Under the direction of the Director of the Information Technology Department, the Desktop Support Technician assists Valley County offices and remote locations with technical support of desktop computers, applications, and related technology. This position will assist with the maintenance and testing of network servers and associated equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Responds to user inquiries and concerns.  Installs, configures, and maintains desktop computer, peripheral equipment, and software.  Works with vendors to resolve technical problems of equipment and software.  Ensures desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with County and other approved systems.  Orders equipment supplies.  Assists with the maintenance and testing of network servers and associated equipment.  Assists with purchasing of equipment and software.  Responsible for working safely and in compliance with Safety rules at all times.  Must be able to develop and maintain working relationships with the public, fellow employees, and supervisors.  Must be reliable and arrive to work on time.  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 High School diploma or equivalent.  2 years of experience supporting various Windows Operating systems.  Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hardware and software and correct issues.  Ability to install software, patches, and updates on computer systems.  Knowledge of Virtual Server environments.  Strong customer service skills.  Ability to maintain confidentiality.
