Dual Credit – seniors who are taking dual credit this year and planning to attend Dickinson State University next year must call the DSU Admissions office at 483-2175 to have their DSU online application reset. Talk to your senior counselor if you have any questions. Juniors – The 2016-2017 LEDA (Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America) application is now open. This is a competitive leadership program for students in their junior year from low-income backgrounds. Students must have an unweighted GPA of at least 3.6 and class ranking in the top 10% of their class. The application website is ledascholars.org/application. WORKKEYS TESTING!! Starting September 17, the DSU Testing Center will be offering the WorkKeys tests (Locating Information, Reading for Information, and Applied Math) to anyone who is interested in taking them. Call 483-2964 or email [email protected] to schedule your test; they prefer to know a month in advance if possible. The cost is $15.00 per test, or $40.00 for all three. We encourage anyone who needs to take these for the state scholarship to do so through DSU this fall. Below are the testing dates. September 17 October 22 November 19 December 10 STUDENTS Interested in being student peer tutors in any subject area should stop in and sign up with any counselor on the subject area and times available for tutoring. The ND College Fair will be Monday, Sept 19th at the DSU Scott Gym from 10:30 – 12:00 Juniors and Seniors need to preregister and print out their bar code. To preregister, complete the form at https://dacacnd.com/students-parents.php Check out the “College Fair Tips for Students” and “Questions to Ask at College Fairs” worksheets at DACACND.com under “High School Counselors” JUNIORS/SOPHOMORES – PSAT/NMSQT – Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016 – 8:00 – 12:00 – DHS Auditorium - The PSAT (Preliminary SAT test) is an optional upper academic test that measures reading, writing, language and math skills developed over the years both inside and outside of school. The PSAT is also the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship. Sophomores can take the PSAT for practice to prepare for taking the junior PSAT test that counts for the Merit Scholarship competition. Juniors with a 3.0GPA and sophomores with a 3.0GPA should consider taking this test. The cost is $15.00 and students may sign up with Mrs. Schroeder in the front office starting on Monday, Sept. 12. Sign up is first come – first serve and students will receive a paper practice booklet when they pay. Fee waivers are available for eligible students. If you need a fee waiver, talk to any counselor. Online practices are also available on our DHS website and at www.collegeboard.org The deadline to sign up is October 14, 2016.
