TASKS/ ASSIGNMENT: COMMUNICATIVE ARTS Select two pieces of literature that you have never had the opportunity to study together (in school or otherwise) and write about why it would be effective if they were studied together. Provide a 500 word defense for studying these two pieces together, using similarities and/or differences in the theme, tone, and/or techniques of the works. You may compare two pieces from the same medium, or cross media. For example, you may combine a non-fiction piece with a poem, a dramatic piece with a graphic piece, two prose pieces, etc.

TASKS/ ASSIGNMENT: MATHEMATICS 1. What is an interesting topic you have studied recently in mathematics either in class or outside of class? Why does this topic interest you? (200 words or less) 2. What are your interests in mathematics outside of your regular math class and assignments? (200 words or less) 3. Describe a difficult math problem you have encountered within the last year. How long did you spend working on it? (200 words or less)

TASKS/ ASSIGNMENT: SCIENCE Submit a short essay discussing a recent discovery or idea in science (chemistry, biology, etc.) that you find fascinating. Include why it intrigues you. You may choose a topic as general as a whole discipline or as specific as a particular phenomenon, challenge, or innovation. (500 words or less)

TASKS/ ASSIGNMENT: SOCIAL STUDIES Submit a short essay discussing the following: Since the post-Watergate era, the United States government and political system have been faced with a series of challenges due to "divided government." Many social scientists argue that “divided government” causes significant issues, which are left unaddressed and/or unresolved. Analyze one or two problems that “divided government” may pose and offer possible solutions. (500 words or less)

TASKS/ ASSIGNMENT: FRENCH, GERMAN, SPANISH Submit a short essay written in your language nomination area (French, German, Mandarin Chinese characters, Spanish. Address the following questions in your response: What historic or cultural aspect(s) of the language have you enjoyed learning about or would like to learn about? How might GHP help you use the language in the future? (500 words or less)

TASKS/ ASSIGNMENT: LATIN Please follow the directions in response to each prompt: 1. Choose what you consider to be the Romans’ greatest contribution to modern society and the reason(s) it is so important (short answer in English). 2. Imagine that you are writing a travel guide for a time traveler to the Ancient Roman world, and you need to write an introduction which highlights TWO sites that are essential for any visitor. What two sites would you write about and why? (answer in English) N.B., The entire Roman world is eligible, not just the city of Rome itself.

TASKS/ ASSIGNMENT: CTAE: AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE Choose a current agricultural issue you deem to be the most important (social, political, or environmental). Conduct and utilize current research to write an essay which proposes a solution as it pertains to U.S. agriculture. The essay is limited to no more than 1000 words, including research/citations (optional).
