The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has focused on distributing Speer funds to organizations that are serving communities that are low-income, working on immigrant workers rights, and/or serving new immigrant communities. Funded during 2009 were the following programs.

Arizona Interfaith Alliance for Worker Justice

Works with immigrants, legal and undocumented workers and low-income workers in Arizona on numerous worker rights issues. www.azworkerjustice.com.

The Open Door Community

Based in Atlanta, Georgia, The Open Door Community is a residential Christian community that serves their neighbors who are homeless and imprisoned. www.opendoorcommunity.org.

Chester Eastside Ministries

Led by Rev. Bernice Warren, a Presbyterian clergywoman, Chester Eastside Ministries serves the poorest community in the state of Pennsylvania. www.chestereastsideministries.org.
