WORK EXPERIENCE Date Since January 2007 Place Microbiology Laboratory Firm Preclinic and clinic Pharmacology Department, University of Florence, Italy Position PhD student Function Application of different techniques (such as ELISA assay, real Time PCR, proliferation assay, flux cytofluorimetry, fluorescence microscopy, microarray analysis) in order to assess the cross talk between dendritic cells and Saccharomyces cerevisiae and the immune response elicited by this non pathogenic yeast. This project is part of DC-THERA “European Dendritic Cells Community”.

Date From November 2005 to December 2006 Place Molecular Genetics Laboratory Firm Department of Genetic-Biology of Microorganisms-Anthropology-Evolution, University of Parma, Italy Position Undergraduate MSc-student (Scholarship holder) Function Application of different genetic techniques (such as genomic and plasmidic DNA extraction, nucleic acid amplification by PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, bacterial and yeast’s transformation, ricombinational vectorial construction, gene disruption, Northern analysis, Southern analysis) to study the implication of different genes on the glucose-induced death and on the aging process.

Title of the thesis: “Deletion of RAG5 gene, codifying the hexokinase, augments the life span of the yeast Kluyveromyces lactis”. The research was carried out in the laboratory of Molecular Genetics in the “Department of Genetic-Biology of Microorganisms-Anthropology- Evolution” of the same University.

July 2003 Degree in Biotehcnology at the University of Parma with final grade 110/110. Title of the thesis: “Expression of the human protein Nerve Growth Factor (hNGF) in the host Kluyveromyces lactis”. The research was carried out in the laboratory of Molecular Genetics in the “Department of Genetic-Biology of Microrganisms-Anthropology-Evolution” of the same University.
