Wincro Metal Industries Ltd manufacture a wide range of corrosion resistant fixings, produced using high quality grade 1.4301 (304) stainless steel. Grade 1.4401 (316) stainless steel can be specified for use in corrosive environments. The range is designed to satisfy most standard masonry to masonry, masonry to concrete and masonry to steel work applications.

Wincro’s Technical Design Team are available to discuss and produce bespoke ties to customer specific requirements. Wincro can also provide a design and specification service and it is recommended that they are consulted early in the design process.

Type: Windposts Description: Windposts span vertically between floors to provide lateral support for masonry panels and are normally fixed as ‘simply supported beams’. Deflection under wind load can restrict the maximum loading.

Windposts are available in various styles, section sizes and heights to suit structural loading requirements and are supplied complete with vertically adjustable ties to suit coursing levels and necessary fixing bolts.

Connections to the frame are designed to allow for vertical adjustment of the structure and site tolerances during installation via a loose top cleat. The choice of fixing and its position are dependent on the type and length of the windpost and the structure.

Wincro will provide a drawing for approval prior to manufacture and design the required fixing details for the top and bottom of each windpost. Wincro can also provide a design and specification service and it is recommended that they are consulted early in the design process.

 Wincro WPA Windpost - an angle section post, designed for use in buildings subjected to high wind loads and for reduced cavity applications. The windpost leg is built into the inner leaf of the blockwork and tied, using one piece, two-way ties. This allows vertical movement of the structure without internal cracking. In situations that require a vertical movement joint, plain end, two-way ties with de-bonding sleeves are recommended. Available in a variety of section sizes.  Wincro WPC Windpost – a channel section post, designed to be installed within cavities of 75mm and above, in buildings subjected to moderate wind loads. One-way ties at 225mm centres secure the post to both inner and outer leaves of masonry. Available in a variety of section sizes. Consult with Wincro technical literature for details.

 Wincro WPS Windpost – a flat ‘spine plate’ section post, designed for use in internal blockwork walls or walls with a ‘fair face’ finish that can not accommodate the windpost protruding off either face. Blockwork is tied through the post using one piece, two-way ties. In situations that require a vertical movement joint, plain end, two-way ties with debonding sleeves are recommended.  Wincro WPABB Windpost – a heavy duty, double angle section post (T section), designed to provide increased load capacity compared to standard WPA windposts.
