St. Paul, MN (08/24/14) - The Consumer Decision Making Contest is a great place for 4-H members to consider how they can become a “smarter” consumer. Participants prepare for the future by using evaluation scenarios on a set of specific topics. Members have an opportunity to practice their communication skills and develop self-confidence in their abilities to make decisions. In addition to the individual competition, each of the team members work together and discuss, synthesize and present the best options available. The applicability of this competitive event has increased the awareness of a consumer needs for the participants.
Jackson/Chisago County placed first with a total of 351points. Jackson/Chisago County placed second with a total of 288 points.
Top individual was Paul Salentiny of Jackson/ChisagoCounty who also first individual for reasons. Second high overall individual was Jonathan Suda of Pipestone County and third individual was Josh Goulet of Jackson/Chisago County.
