As I Mentioned to the Group When I Presented Last Month, the NJDA Will Be Hosted Oral Health

As I mentioned to the group when I presented last month, the NJDA will be hosted Oral Health Awareness Week at the State House in Trenton. The week we have selected is Monday, June 21-Friday, June 25. This is the week the state budget is expected to be in the last stages of negotiation and when important dental programs are most vulnerable. Each day during this week, the NJDA will have an information table at strategic locations throughout the State House and the State House Annex (directly next door). Our goal is greet and speak to members of the legislature and the Governor’s staff to stress the importance of oral health. It is a valuable learning experience for all who take part, and here is where we could use help from the Rutgers Pre-Dental Club.

We would need two volunteers each day to help us deliver our message to these lawmakers. Plan on being there from 9am to 2pm each day and NJDA will provide lunch each day. We plan on holding a pre-event meeting specifically for the Rutgers Pre- Dental Volunteers to give you a crash course on the issues pertaining to oral health in New Jersey.

Please circulate this email to the members of the club, manage the process of collecting volunteer names and send me a list of names for each of the scheduled days, along with cell phone and email addresses no later than April 30. We will hold a meeting either here or at the University, whichever works best, one evening in early June.
