Continuing Education Courses SUPPLY LIST
Title: Pastels – Wildflower Fields Monday, April 30, 2012 - 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cable UCC Church, located on County Hwy M in downtown Cable. Instructor: Diana Randolph Express the color, texture, rhythm and patterns of wildflower fields with pastels (dry pastels, not oil pastels) on paper. Seeing color as value will be emphasized. Participants will work from their own photographs. One warm-up exercise will involve creating a small 5 by 7 inch pastel painting using a limited palette of pastel sticks. This class is open to all levels of experience. There is a supply list for this class. The instructor will have some items available for purchase in class, as indicated on the supply list. Participants may bring a sack lunch or lunch may be ordered in class from the Brick House Café. Class size limit: 15.
Supply List
A table easel for working upright (or a box or crate to lean drawing board against.) a pair of vinyl or nitrile disposable gloves to keep hands clean photos of fields you’ve taken yourself a large (96) set of hard pastels – Nu Pastel Brand preferably a set of soft pastels – Rembrandt, Sennelier or other brand – optional a set of pastel pencils – optional a small sketchbook to create value studies with pencil or gray tone markers pencil or * three gray-tone brush markers of various gradations – from black to light gray a paint smock – optional a camera to take photos of instructor’s demonstrations optional – only bring if you have this already: rough watercolor paper and watercolor paints to create an underpainting. Any type of pastel paper including: * Canson Mi-Teintes paper * La Carte paper * sanded pastel paper newspapers to cover table paper towels odorless paint thinner and flat brush to create an underpainting on sanded paper - optional drawing board such as Masonite for your pastel paper masking tape sack lunch or lunch may be ordered during class from the Brick House Café.
* Instructor will have these items available for purchase during class. She will also have cut mats available to purchase to fit the following paper sizes: 5 x 7 inches; 6 x 9 inches; and 12 x 16 inches.
