Dear student, We regret to inform you that we cannot provide you with accommodation due to a large number of applicants.
Since we are not able to help you with accommodation, you must search for a room on your own. Here are a few tips:
Studentbostader is the local student housing company. We hope you already have registered at their web page according to our previous e-mail. If not you can apply for a room with them by register at www.studentbostader.se (read the instructions carefully). Please note that Studentbostader uses a queuing system meaning that the earlier you apply the greater are your chances to get a room. Rooms available from August 1st will be posted on their website around July 15th. If you apply for a room from July 1st, you have greater chances to get a room but you then you must pay rent for July. Rooms available from July 1st will be posted on their website in June. We recommend you to apply for a room from July 1st, since there is always a lack of rooms in August. Note that if you stay until next summer, June and July is free. A few rooms are not furnished, do not apply for them.
ByggVesta is another student housing company that offers small apartments. Register with them on www.byggvesta.se .
The notice board on the Linköping University website has a special section for accommodation: www.student.liu.se/anslagstavlan.
The website www.bostadspoolen.se can also give you some practical information regarding accommodation and provide you with links to private landlords.
Another option is to rent a larger apartment and share it with friends. Please note that these apartments are not furnished. o Housing company Graflunds (apartments in Ryd and Skäggetorp): www.graflunds.se o Housing company Stångåstaden (apartments in Ryd etc.): www.stangastaden.se
If you have trouble with the Swedish ads you can find translation of typical words related to housing at www.shgo.se/english/translations. Another tip when it comes to translating Swedish words are the dictionaries available on-line lexin.nada.kth.se/sve-eng.html.
If you want to know where an address is located, you can search an address at www.hitta.se (fill out the address under “Var?”).
