1. Opening Prayer 1.1 The prayer of St Francis of Assissi’s “Make Me A Channel of Your Peace” was presented to members by showing a set of slides to remind members that this is the month of International Lasallian Days for Peace. 1.2 The Chairman noted members that this function will last for a month until October 21 and should be promoted in individual schools, such as by setting up display boards. He also stressed that promoting peace for the whole world is in itself a form of formation.
2. Minutes and Matters arising 2.1 A revised minutes has been sent to all members before the meeting. 2.2 As the matters arising had been included in the agenda, they would be discussed accordingly. 2.3 Rev. Br. Patrick welcomed a new member: Mr Timmy Lo from DLSNT.
3. Treasurer’s Report 3.1 Rev. Br. Patrick further explained to members that the price of the St. La Salle hard-cover reader is $50 per copy. He further stressed that this would be a very good reader for students and any schools interested could contact him directly. Mr Mark Huang, the chairman of LSCOBA, promised to purchase more if there is a further demand.
4. Lasallian Youth Movement and Lasallian Volunteers Report 4.1 Mr Robert Wong reported the following: 4.1.1 The LYM had finished their 12th meeting on October 2nd. 4.1.2 An AGM will be held on October 23rd (Sunday) at 2 p.m. at LSC to elect the new EXCO. All members are welcome. 4.2 Mr Peter Leung reported on the Leadership Camp activity for the Lasallian Volunteers: 4.2.1. The Christian Brothers’ Schools Leadership Camp was held on October 8 & 9, 2011 at Ming Fai Camp in Cheung Chau. 46 student leaders from brother schools participated.
1 He thanked Rev. Br. Patrick for sponsoring the activity, Rev. Br. Jeff for delivering the speech, and Ms. C. Tang of LSC and Ms. Edith Ng of DLSNT for helping out in the event. 4.2.2. All camp photos had been uploaded on the Facebook and sent to International Young Lasallians’ Council. 4.2.3. The Presentation song will be taught to students in LSC. 4.2.4. Rev. Br. Patrick stressed that such Formation of our young Lasallians is one form of Formation program for the young.
5. Lasallian Formation 5.1 From January, 2012, Rev. Br. Mark Murphy will be replaced by Rev. Br. John Peel to be the Head of the Lasallian Service. He will move from Australia to station in Singapore and is now looking for some focuses in Hong Kong so as to offer his help more readily. Some schools had already sent in their request for mentorship. 5.2 Progress of Formation programmes conducted: 5.2.1 Mr Wallace Wong of CSK reported that a questionnaire relating to Lasallian Formation programmes to be carried out had been sent out to all teachers who agreed that Lasallian Educator’s role was to promote unity and team spirit in school. It was also found that future formation programmes should be conducted within a short period of time and Induction Programmes should be conducted to allow new teachers learn about the life and work of our founder. 5.2.2 DLSNT: An Induction Programme was conducted for the new teachers. Pictures of St La Salle have been put up all around campus. Suggestions: - Brothers should be invited to visit the campus to boost up the Lasallian spirit as most students have never met any Brothers.
6. Lasallian Family Office Website Mr Louis Chen of CGHC reported: 6.1 Recent updates: 6.1.1 Revised minutes had been uploaded. 6.1.2 Revised the menus and icons for readers to search information more easily. 6.2 Mr Chen proposed to have the ‘hidden treasure’ be exposed and be known to all, e.g. the Heritage where many historical values could be found. He suggested to have the “Highlight of the Month” to be replaced by the “Heritage”. Members are invited to comment on this new format. Any suggestions can be sent directly either to the Chairman or Mr Louis Chen.
7. APLEC 8 Manila 7.1 Details of the event: Dates: December 4 – 9, 2011 Theme: Living the Lasallian values in the Asia Pacific Region Delegates: Rev. Br. Patrick will be leading LSC: Mr Joseph Hui, Mr Joseph Fong DLS: Mr Mak Tai Pui, Mr Billy Lau Ka Chun 2 CSK: Mr Lee ting-leung, Mr Alex Chan CGH: Ms Rhoda Lee, Ms Rufina Cheng LSPS: Ms Erica To, Ms Carrie Ho 7.2 Delegates’ registration fee and insurance will be paid from APLEC fund. 7.3 Delegates’ flight fare will either be sponsored by the school or LEC Formation Fund.
8. School Updates
Nov 5 Sports Meet CSKP English Enrichment Program 2nd year school-based support on Math of P3 & P4 level SJPS The whole-day school (merging a.m. and p.m. sessions) ran smoothly. Lasallian Feast Day Promotion: Poster Design Competition Oct 7 Swimming Gala LSPS Sept 7 3 special guests were invited from the All China Youth Federation to share their experience. One of them was an Olympic medallist, Ms Luo Xuejuan. Sept 24 Swimming Gala. SJPS, CSKP, WYP, LMCP & DBS were invited for a friendly match. Jan 13-15 Talent Showcase to be held in the evening CSK(LS)C Oct 8 PTA AGM
DLSNT Nov 20 OBA AGM Dec 16 - 19 Annual Athletics Meet Cross-border students accounts for about 15% of the student population with 40% of girls and 60% of boys. CGHC Sept 16 Prayer Service Focus inspection on MOI arrangement at junior secondary level Interschool Swimming competition: Overall Championship in Division 3. Will be promoted to Division 2 next year. SJC Sept 30 School Opening Mass. Both Teachers and students were to write a prayer for the International Prayer for Peace. Prayers were posted on the Christian Union Board. LSC Sept 9 80th Jubilee Mass Opening Dec 2 Jubilee Mass in Cathedral at 10:30 a.m. May 5 & 6 Jubilee Educational Symposium May 12 Jubilee Dinner in Convention Centre May 18 Founder’s Day Mass (closing of Jubilee)
