“Why do wives and mothers work outside at home? And what are the impacts of their working on the family life?”
By passing days our today’s society will change and evolved with new creations, even our lifestyle because of discovering new things and almost every side of our society.
However, change may be accomplished in a period of time; it depends on the reflection of the societies for change. One such example is working mothers outside the home and not staying at home to look after their children. In our today’s society, working mothers outside is something general in any society. There are many people who debated about the fact that if women should join the workforce or stay at home, especially those who have children, do not have enough time to care about them. Although, many women need to work because of financial problems or because want to work to maintain a career or even they work in order to have different atmosphere rather than staying at home most of the time. In my point of view, every woman has the right to work. The decision is one that each mother must make based on her qualification in life and they should have the authority to make the decision if they would like to work or stay at home with their own. But at first she should carefully look beyond the many problems that she might face. In this thesis, I will explore the reasons of working wives outside and the impacts it has on family life. Working mothers do not only influence on the child it effects on husband as well. Working female was something unfamiliar in the last decades and even the last centuries. Japan also faced many changes in this area and now there are lots of females who work outside.
But also this caused divorce and care less about family life.
Nowadays, children of working parents seem to be a worldwide problem for the people of the 21th century and also the future years. The data’s showed that: “More than 50% of mothers with babies or preschoolers work outside the home.”1 There are many reasons for mothers to prefer to work outside. Some of them require working because they need to have a clear atmosphere. Staying at home does not give wives great feeling and they feel loneliness and lose their patience. For this purpose, they work outside to see the big world and communicate with other people. Another point that forced working mothers is society. Different societies demand for different behaviors, mothers do not stay at home because the society requirements.
Being intellectual is another cause, therefore, many female believe that working outside helps them to get experience and educate themselves. But, the main reason and the most significant one is financial need. In some families, mothers work because she obligated to do and they are not in an appropriate economic condition. While, a mother chose to work outside. “The fact that women are working in record numbers is not a new phenomenon. What has changed are the conditions and places in which they work. Many tasks which were once performed in the home are now the source of jobs held by women outside the home.”2

The researchers from these previous years showed the increasing divorce rate because of this phenomenon. Marriage females have more responsibility compared with the single ones.
While a woman works outside, they may have less time as a woman at home, and she will fail in her marriage side. Another issue will be children, while a female spends most of her time at work and while she comes back, she will be tired, then there is no time to raise a baby and she will not be able to do what she should do as a wife. Husbands are not the only family members to be affected when wives go to work, rather I effects on the child as well. As in Working Mothers:
Cognitive and Behavioral Effects on Children mentioned a research among those families working outside.
“Amanada Dejong, Working mothers: Cognitive and Behavioral Effects on Childern.Pp.78-79.”3
As Sara and Richards said in their article:
3 Amanada Dejong, Working mothers: Cognitive and Behavioral Effects on Childern.Pp.78-79. “ Participants also reported the impact on children of having working parents. Of parents whose children attend out-of-home care, 90% felt that their work had a positive impact on their children, while 5% felt that it had a negative effect, and 5% felt that it had no effect. Of parents who stayed at home with their children, 70% stated that it had a positive effect on children, while 10% reported a negative effect, and 20% reported no effect.”4
Jill Steury claimed that Japan is a society similar to other societies.
Traditionally, it is male who works outside and female stays at home and women, married and become mothers, but after the Second World War this process had changed and nowadays it is equal for men and women to work together. Although, there are still some issues for mothers while they have a child under 6 or 5 years old, because they have to take them to Child Care
Centers. These centers are useful in helping raising and taking care of children, but sometimes because of the large amounts of children they will not have time to be with some child, and the baby will be alone during being at the center. It is not necessary for the babies to be alone at that age and it is harmful for them. However, the children who stay at these centers will be motivated and have more skills than those who stay at home, while a baby see other children do something it motives her to do it even if it is something impossible. The rising number of the mothers who have both jobs outside and families over time. Many of them have to pay a heavy price because their society is not still ready to accept this fact that women will able and take full responsibility for working with full time and have children. Society watches these mothers in a wrong way and
"does not see a mother's work or hobbies as legitimate needs for her own growth or even for her mental health. The mother is expected to put off all these activities for the sake of the child."5

Journal of Japanese Studies (Winter 1989), 75-76. 6 Jill Steury, Working Mothers in Japan and the Effects on Children and Society. 5 Omar Mother has an important role in raising children and the children will learn to lean on her mothers. Although, it depends on a mother how to teach her child, The Japanese mother taught the children the sense that they will not be able to solve their problems by themselves rather to depend on their mothers. The researchers showed that the children of those mothers who work outside will not rise normally compared to those families who their mothers stay at home. The purpose is to teach child depend on their mothers, not others in order to have a better child in attitude because while a mother works she does not have time to be with her baby and ask about her friends this can become a big deal therefore, friendship is significant about how a child behave and this is something that mothers should consider and care about. The laziness the children is another issue that working mothers may face. Every child needs to watch out until his growth and he does not need someone to take care of him anymore, the caring less of a mother’s effect on the rate of the child’s intelligence because they need help and leading which is a mother’s duty to do but if she works it is not possible to do.
The child is not the only one who affected by this process, working mothers influence on her family life especially husband. While a wife works outside, she goes to work, then come back tiredly, absolutely she will not have the energy to cook and to serve her husband.
Then, even sometimes during the night she has jobs to do at home and by this form, she does not have enough time for her husband. These are caused by increasing the divorce rate in today’s globe. The female does not have time to be a mother and preferred working outside than mothering, while man wants to have babies, this will become problem between them and they are just simply divorced from each other. Also, ignoring the man from her wife is another issue; he considered that her wife is careless and she has not time for him. This is how having a job bring these damages into family life. The family has an important meaning for each female, but sometimes working outside destroyed everything while a woman will not be ready to give her works up and sacrifice her family for the sake of enjoying of works outside. Each woman is responsible for collecting her family and anything happen she will be responsible, so this is females duty to stand and make her family life easier.
In the conclusion, this research paper has examined the reasons encourages wives work outside and its effects on family difficulties of working. It is common in today’s society, but it also depends on their conditional on their home. This paper explored the reasons of working wives outside and the impacts it has on family life. Working mothers do not only influence on the child it effects on husband as well. This research argued that women have the right to decide whether she wants to work or stay at home, but it depends on her situation in life and her family position. However, the woman is free to work, but she must realize if it is suitable for her to work or not. In my point of view, it is better for female to stay at home and instead of working outside try to take more time for her children and husband. While a woman works outside there is no difference if it is part or full time because it is nature of female that wants to focus on a particular job while she is doing and for this reason, she may do not have time for her husband and especially children. Simply, it is better for women to stay at home, but sometimes women work outside not because she wants to but it is obligated because of financial problems, in this point she will not refuse working for the sake of her family. Although, this is not the only excuse who woman has to work outside, but it is the only rational reason and the only excuse that should a female have if they work outside at home. Eventually, many women prefer to work outside and this may have many consequences on their family life because the female wants to be outside or she only wants to see the big world which they are not a good reason to make them forget about husband and children. However, sometimes the ups and downs 7 Omar of our life make mothers work outside and accept this hard situation for the benefiting of her family.
