Your Trailer MUST Consist of the Following Parts

Now that you have composed a fantastic short story, it’s time to make your writing come alive. Where’s the place that magic happens? Hollywood! That’s right. Imagine Steven Speilberg or Alfred Hitchcock calling you and telling you he wants to turn your story into a movie. How awesome is that! What type of advertisement will you create to get audiences to come see your film?

The purpose of a movie trailer is to attract an audience to see a film; your goal is to provide excerpts from the story which are the most exciting, suspenseful, and noteworthy events. One key element to remember is to not spoil the ending!

 Rating Card: Who should see your film? This would appear at the beginning of the trailer!

o Green = “approved for all audiences” o Yellow = “Age-appropriate Internet users” o Red = “Restricted” or “Mature” audiences

 Movie Production Company Name & Symbol

 Sound Effects

 Narration:

 An opening Logline: a one-sentence summary of the pitch for a proposed movie i.e. “Kung Fu Panda”: When threatened by a gang of snow leopards, the jungle animals call upon an inept panda to become a kung fu master and save the Valley of Peace.  A summary which focuses on the problem, its rising action, and climax DO NOT give resolution/final outcome!  Dialogue/Conversation that enhances the plotline

 Music: both instrumental and lyrical. All music must be cited and in MP3 format. We can convert for you!

 Images: internet use requires citation; all images must be in the form of jpeg files

 Identify the actor who portrays your main character

 Words or phrases that acknowledge the THEME of the story

 Release Date

 Movie Title

 Approximately 2 minutes in length

We will use audacity to record our narration, like we did our Summer Podcasts. We will then use Windows Movie Maker to bring our stories to life!
