New York, April 6, 2005—The American Swiss Foundation, at its board meeting today, announced that Jamie Dailey has been selected to attend the Foundation’s 16th Young Leaders Conference in Switzerland in May.

“We are delighted to invite to Switzerland a very accomplished and diverse group of young American leaders from academia, business, government, the media, and the arts” said Patricia Schramm, President of the Foundation.

This year’s Conference will be held from May 21 – 28, 2005, and will be hosted by UBS at their Wolfsberg Executive Development Center in Ermatingen, a charming former country estate near Lake Constance. Travel sponsorship of American participants is provided by Swiss International Air Lines.

During the Conference, participants will discuss vital issues of the day with high-level Swiss government officials and business, media, cultural and other leaders. The 50 participants (approximately half of them American and half Swiss) range in age from their late twenties to early forties. They are selected on the basis of outstanding professional and personal achievement. The American group is bipartisan. This year’s group includes state legislators, media representatives, talk show hosts, authors, writers, entrepreneurs, professors, heads of think-tanks, and a Grammy award-winning artist.

The Young Leaders Conference is a major undertaking of the Foundation and an instrument to create meaningful dialogue and foster mutual understanding among the next generation of leaders in Switzerland and the U.S. It was initiated in 1990 by the Foundation’s Chairman, Faith Whittlesey, former U.S. Ambassador to Switzerland. The Young Leaders alumni group now numbers some 600.

Established in 1945, the New York-based American Swiss Foundation has sought to preserve and strengthen the historic friendship between the United States and Switzerland on a person-to-person basis. It is a private, non-profit organization.
