New York State Fingerprinting: Paying Online
BEFORE YOU START – Please read this entire memo FIRST
A.) MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ACCESS TO A PRINTER TO PRINT YOUR PAYMENT CONFIRMATION – IT MUST BE PRINTED WHILE YOU ARE ON THE RECEIPT SCREEN. YOU CANNOT GO BACK LATER TO PRINT IT.
B.) MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A VALID VISA OR MASTERCARD TO MAKE YOUR PAYMENT OF $ 89.75 (Eff. 2/4/15). YOUR PAYMENT MUST BE MADE ONLINE, DIRECTLY TO NYS TEACH. THE SYRACUSE CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT DOES NOT ACCEPT PAYMENT OF ANY KIND FOR FINGERPRINTING.
1. Go to the website: http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/
2. If you don’t already have a NYS TEACH account: Click on “Self Register with TEACH” box. Then follow the instructions, clicking the continue arrow on the bottom of the screen. Make sure you enter all of the required information correctly, especially your name and Social Security Number. Once you are self registered and have created an account (user name & password), Click on next until you have advanced through information screens. The option to pay online for fingerprinting will appear. The Cost is $ 89.75 (revised)
OR:
If you do already have a NYS TEACH account click on the “Login to TEACH” box and Log in using your TEACH username and password. On your TEACH homepage, click on the link “Submit Application for Fingerprint Clearance” and follow the instructions online to complete the process.
3. To make a payment you will need a Visa/MasterCard credit card or money card (purchased at a store and activated) NOTE: 8/1/11 Changes were made to the fingerprinting online process – it may take 1-2 days to process your payment “Click Here” to make payment / OK for secure site / We do not use “ink cards” or “Payment coupons” Enter your credit card information / Submit / Print your payment confirmation – even if it indicates an error message
MAKE SURE YOU PRINT YOUR PAYMENT CONFIRMATION (Print button on the bottom left of payment confirmation screen). Once you leave this page you cannot go backwards. Screen says thank you for your payment – “click HERE to return home” (to complete process) For payment issues call NY State Ed / TEACH / 518-473-2998 Fax- 518-473-9998
4. Contact the Syracuse City School District / Department of Public Safety / 725 Harrison St, Room 201 at 435-4527 to schedule an appointment to be fingerprinted. A State issued valid ID is required at appointment, as well as a copy of your payment confirmation.
Fingerprinting appointment hours are: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Printing is done on the hour or half hour / Monday – Friday – Excluding lunch 12:30 – 1:00 PM .
