CP3505 Resend FW Upgrade Error Message

Color RFU Load Error LaserJ et Send RFU Upgrade Now CP3505 (USB Download Instructions)

Security Level: For HP and Channel Partner Internal Use Date Written/Updated: September 26, 2007 Document Number: Document Summary This document describes how to recover the printer if a firmware upgrade has failed during a remote firmware upgrade through the USB port. Generic instructions can be applied to multiple Laserjet products.

Issue Description:

The proceeding error may occur if you have a failure during a Remote Firmware Upgrade! The hp LaserJet CP3505 does not have a parallel I/O port. The following Procedure explains how to upgrade the product through the USB port.

Solution or Workaround:

To perform an RFU upgrade over the USB port you first need to have 1) HP CP3505 Printer Driver available (to establish an USB connection), and 2) have downloaded the Hp LaserJet CP3505 RFU upgrade package to an accessible Directory on your host computer. Both the printer driver and the firmware upgrade file may be obtained at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp? &lang=en&cc=us&pnameOID=3290555&taskId=135&prodTypeId=18972&prodS eriesId=3290546&submit.y=0&submit.x=0&lang=en&cc=us

Establishing a USB Connection

When you connect the printer in this state the printer will identify itself as a “Hewlett-PackardHP LaserJet USB Upgrade”. Since it identifies itself this way the printer is basically hanging and cannot load the FW, therefore it does not enumerate correctly as a Color Laserjet CP3505. This document can be used as a generic document for many midranges to high-end Laserjet products.

Computer Name\Share Name

After completing this step the file will be copied to the USB port and the printer may or may not respond. At this point cycle power on the printer and it should come back to ready. If it does not retry these steps and if it fails a second time replace the formatter.
