SCHOLARSHIP 14 AND TO WISH HER THE VERY BEST AS SHE EMBARKS 15 ON HER COLLEGE CAREER AT CLEMSON UNIVERSITY. 16 17 Whereas, Kristin Lynn Leskoske of Irmo, South Carolina, the 18 daughter of Stephen and Julie Leskoske, has been selected to 19 receive the 2007 John Dewey Winburn, Jr. Scholarship; and 20 21 Whereas, Miss Leskoske, an aspiring research scientist, 22 outstanding leader, and exceptional student at Dutch Fork High 23 School will be attending Clemson University beginning in the 24 2007 fall term in the Calhoun Honors College pursuing a Bachelor 25 of Science degree in biochemistry; and 26 27 Whereas, throughout her high school career, Miss Leskoske has 28 had an outstanding academic record and has participated in 29 leadership positions in the Dutch Fork High School Silver Spirit 30 Marching Band, has served as president of her church’s youth 31 group for the last two years in which the group has raised money 32 for and participated in the Relay for Life, Crop Walk Against 33 Hunger, and the Salkehatchie Summer Service Program of the 34 United Methodist Church; and 35 36 Whereas, the John Dewey Winburn, Jr. Scholarship was 37 established in 2006 by Representative Nathan Ballentine in honor 38 of his maternal grandfather who passed away in 2000 and in 39 furtherance of his commitment to return his legislative salary to the 40 community. Mr. Winburn was a former school teacher and 41 salesman and a Navy veteran of World War II. He loved high
1 [4205] 1 1 school football and served as a South Carolina football official for 2 over twenty-five years; and 3 4 Whereas, Mr. Winburn was a graduate of Clemson University and 5 this scholarship will be awarded annually to one high school senior 6 who plans to attend Clemson University; and 7 8 Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are pleased 9 to have the opportunity to recognize such an outstanding student 10 and leader as Miss Kristin Lynn Leskoske, an outstanding daughter 11 of South Carolina, who has brought great pride to her family, 12 school, and community. Now, therefore, 13 14 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 15 16 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 17 by this resolution, recognize and congratulate Kristin Lynn 18 Leskoske of Irmo, South Carolina, on being selected to receive the 19 2007 John Dewey Winburn, Jr. Scholarship and to wish her the 20 very best as she embarks on her college career at Clemson 21 University. 22 23 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 24 Miss Kristin Lynn Leskoske of Irmo, South Carolina. 25 ----XX---- 26
