Position overview

APT is an international publisher of third sector material, including Alliance magazine, a quarterly publication on philanthropy and social investment globally. We are currently seeking a candidate with strong communications skills, excellent IT skills and an appetite to learn about philanthropy for the post of Communication and Circulation Officer. Marketing experience is also desirable.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will be responsible for all forms of communication with our readership either through the production of regular email updates or the presentation of content on our website. You will also oversee all of Alliance magazine’s profile online through its own website and various social media channels.

You will help ensure a high standard of written content is published via our website as well as taking the lead in moving Alliance forward into multimedia with the continued development of both audio and video content for our readers.

You will also be responsible for forging new partnerships and managing a global network of existing partnerships. You will be a point of contact for all external enquiries and work alongside the Marketing & Advertising Officer to grow the readership of Alliance magazine.

The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, enjoy working in a small team and have excellent attention to detail and time-management skills. The candidate will be a willing participant in all organisational discussions and play an active part in driving the organisation forward.

Main responsibilities

Communications  Designing, building and distributing html emails for our two weekly e-newsletters and any other e-communications (currently using Mailchimp)  Designing, building and distributing html emails for press releases according to a schedule  Lead responsibility for the Alliance magazine website - www.alliancemagazine.org - including adding all new content, maintenance and the development of the site in design and functionality  Working with the editorial team to develop the Alliance blog including sourcing and copy editing content  Lead responsibility for the constructing and implementing our social media strategy incorporating use of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn & YouTube  Raising our online profile via avenues such as SEO and link exchanges with other websites  Maintaining the Alliance App, developing its content and increasing downloads  Working with the Executive Editor to develop the Alliance Audio series of podcasts and interviews  Attending regular Breakfast Club events, assisting the Marketing & Advertising Officer in their smooth running and filming the event  Maintenance of charity email account and responding to all customer queries in a timely manner

Communications – partnerships  Increasing the global awareness of Alliance via developing engaged partners across the sector  Increasing the number of free readers to Alliance by active partnerships in qualifying countries  Maintaining good contact with existing global network of partners so that we are delivering and receiving all agreed terms.  Actively seeking new partnerships and responding to requests for them

Circulation  Processing subscriptions and payments alongside Marketing & Advertising Officer  Ensuring any invoices are paid in a timely fashion alongside Marketing & Advertising Officer  Sending emails and making phone calls as part of the renewals schedule alongside Marketing & Advertising Officer  Working alongside the Marketing & Advertising Officer to increase the overall readership  Keeping all database records up-to-date alongside Marketing & Advertising Officer

Reporting  Monitoring, tracking and reporting of readership, website visitors and references to Alliance in other publications/websites  Maintaining any tracking spreadsheets that are associated with your projects

General  Being an active team member and contributing ideas to the long-term development of Alliance at team meetings  Being responsible for interns and their work at appropriate times  Working on any required tasks relating to other APT projects
