DJAS Summer BBQ 5 July 2015

DJAS newsletter - June 2015 Dear all

DJAS Summer BBQ – 5 July 2015 On Sunday 5th July there will be a summer BBQ at the allotment at 2pm for allotment holders and their families. Please bring your own food, drinks plates and cutlery as well as chairs and picnic blankets. As well as bringing your own food, we ask that you bring "something to share" for a communal table.

We will provide bbqs. Please get in touch if you have a bbq that can be borrowed for the event.

Please also get in touch to confirm how many people will be coming, so that we can have an idea of numbers. We hope that this will be a great opportunity to get together and that we have good weather.

Stonnall Open Gardens – 19 July 2015 On Sunday 19th July from 2-5pm the allotment site will be open as part of Stonnall Open Gardens.

Volunteers will meet visitors at the gate and show them to the site, which will also have volunteers to talk about the allotment. All visitors will be asked to keep to the paths and will be guided at the site. As the allotment site is slightly out of the village we don’t anticipate high numbers of visitors. We plan to have a rota of volunteers with two volunteers for every 30 minute slot between 2-5pm. If you are able to volunteer then please get in touch.

Reminder – residency Please can we reminder plotholders that the allotments are for the residents of Little Aston, Shenstone and Stonnall Parish Council areas and the allotment holders must be the main upkeepers of their plot.

Rabbits We are aware that a rabbit has been seen on the site. As far as we are aware, no damage has been caused to produce (presumably it is happily eating the grass), however please do get in touch if you notice any damage and we will look at this issue further. Please continue to be vigilant and remember to keep gates closed.

Trees and Shrubs To ensure that everybody can enjoy their allotment and paths are accessible, we remind all plotholders not to allow trees and shrubs to encroach on or hang over the paths or other plots. As a guide, if you are planting trees these should be dwarf variety and up to 2.5m.

If you would like any further information, or have any questions then please get in touch.

We hope that you all have an excellent growing season and look forward to seeing you at the bbq!
