As a part of Business Deregulation process, there have been requests from industries’ associations for re-categorization of certain industries from Red to either Orange or Green category. The Commissioner of Industries has held meetings with the industry representatives and certain suggestions for re-categorization made by them was forwarded to Board office through the Department of Ecology and Environment vide ref (3) for further necessary action. The suggestion of Industries and Commerce Department for re-categorization was placed before the 260th Technical Advisory Committee meeting for deliberations and for opinion. The opinion of TAC (ref (4)) was forwarded to Government on 22-5-2003. The Secretary, Environment held a meeting with officials of the Board on 24-5-2003 and informed to notify the suggestions of TAC for reclassification of industries and also suggested to review the classification of industries, deletion of repeated classifications etc. Accordingly meetings were held with senior officers of the Board about deletion of repeated category, modification of terminology of certain category of industries etc.
In the 125th Board Meeting held on 6-5-98 the Board authorized the Chairman to modify the existing classification, introduce new classification as and when it is necessary.
In view of the above, a comprehensive list of Red, Orange and Green categories industries by incorporating addition, deletion, modification and reclassification is prepared and appended to this notification. This notification will have prospective effect. Any reclassification/modification/new classification to be done inview of this notification will be effective only from the date of this notification and onwards. The classification of industries prior to this notification will remain as per the memoranda/notification cited at ref 1 to 7.
