Changing Network and Email Password

Forefront Identity Manager (FIM) is the new password management system in West Ada School District. On initial login users will be prompted to: 1. Register with FIM and set up password security questions. 2. Change passwords.

Once a user does this, FIM creates a Forgot Your Password link on the login screen. Should a user forget their password, he/she will simply select the Forgot Your Password link, answer security questions, and reset the password.

Password Registration 1. Upon login, Forefront Identity Manager Screen will open. 2. Click Next. 3. Enter your current password at the prompt and click Next. 4. Four security questions appear on the page. Answer at least two of the questions. Remember the answers! In the future, you will need to answer the questions if you have to use the Forgot Your Password option on the login screen. 5. Click Next. A page opens announcing that you are now registered with Forefront Identity Manager.

Reset Password 1. Use the back arrow to return to the West Ada District Password screen. 2. Click to select Reset Password. 3. Enter your username at the prompt. Acceptable forms: doe.jane or [email protected] 4. Answer two security questions. These are the questions that you answered during password registration. 5. Click Next. 6. Type and verify your new password at the prompts. 7. Click Next. A page opens announcing that you have successfully reset your password.

What Else Do You Need to Do? 1. If you try to open MS Outlook 2013 or MS Lync 2013 immediately after changing password, you may be prompted to input the new password the first time you open either program. a. Input your new password. b. Click to check the box in front of Remember This Password. 2. You may need to change email passwords on personal smartphones, tablets, or other personal devices.

Frequently Asked Questions  Do I have to be on a district computer to change my password? Yes.  What if I want to change the security question answers? Click the Password Management icon in the District Applications Window. FIM will launch, and you can make changes.  What if I get an error message while registering or resetting my password? This is unlikely. If it does happen, try again. Submit a helpdesk ticket if it does not work by the third try.  Does Control/Alt/Delete still work when I want to change my password? Yes.  What happens if I do not remember the answers to my security questions? a. If you still remember your password, you can go through the FIM registration process again. b. If you do not remember your password, contact the District Service Center for a password reset.  What applications will this affect?
