The August Meeting of the Friends of the Paul Sawyier Public Library Was Called to Order

The March meeting of the Friends of the Paul Sawyier Public Library was called to order by President Mike Embry at 5:10p.m., April 26, 2007.

Those attending were: Mike Embry, Donna Gibson, Chris Evans, Gretchen Vaught, Rochelle Silvernail, Ev Claffy, Gina Hagan, Cindy Shemwell, Carol Hummel, and Ann Howard.

Secretary’s Report: There were no changes to the minutes. Ev Claffy made a motion to approve the minutes. Motion was seconded by Chris Evans.

Treasurer’s Report: Chris Evans reported that there were $3,298.30 in Deposits in March, and $2695.48 to date in April. Our current bank balance is $15,666.69 plus our 2 Certificates of Deposit. Report was approved by Rochelle Silvernail and seconded by Carol Hummel.

Bookstore: The bookstore has earned $8,026.30 to date. Discussion on how bookstore has exceeded our expectations.

Jules Delambre Memory Committee: Ev Claffy said that the Garden Club is willing to work with us with regards to the front pots and the Lillian Lindsey Park.

Library Needs: Computers $10,000 Typewriter $600 Youth Services Summer Reading $3,500-$4,500 Grand Prize $500 Teen Incentives $2,500 Book Display $10,000 Display Cases $5,000 Plastic Bags $2,500 Ev Claffy made a motion to give youth services $5,000 for Summer Reading Program. Motion was seconded by Rochelle Silvernail. Motion passed.

Spring Book Sale: Workers are needed to sign-up. Next week the KSU students will move books from the 1st floor to the basement. The book sale will be May 17th-May 20th. Rochelle Silvernail said that the sale has been published on the KSU electronic board, State-Journal, Herald-Leader, DFI, Chamber of Commerce, KY literary newsletter, and Channel 10 interview.

Potluck: Our potluck will be held in the community room possibly on May 24th. Ev Claffy will be chairing.

Web Site: Steve is going to keep our website current.

Author Visit: 35-40 people attended the Richard Taylor author visit. Meeting adjourned.
