BEDDOW WINS AGAIN AT ALL AMERICAN SPEEDWAY

This past Saturday night All American Speedway hosted round seven of the NASCAR Whelen All American Championship Series. The track hosted Armed Forces night featuring the NASCAR Modifieds, Bombers, Street Stocks and F4's. Along with Armed Forces Night, New sponsor Dave & Busters brought out their gaming setup and gave away prizes to the fans. Saturday's temperatures were the hottest its been on race day thus far and the Fans still came out and were treated to a good night of racing.

First up was the Bomber division and No. 52 Mo Abhat topped qualifying with a time of 15.922 seconds. No. 20 Gordon Lewis IV and No. 50 Richard Perez each shared a heat race win and Perez won the trophy dash. An invert of eight was drawn placing No. 63 Joe Rhodes and No. 21 Matt Manolis on the front row. Rhodes jumped to the early lead while three wide passing was going on behind him for second. Rhodes began to pull away from the field and the division's points leader No. 77 Erik Ray was on the move working through the field. A caution was thrown on lap 15 which put Rhodes and Ray side by side for the restart. On the restart, Ray powered to the lead on the outside. Caution on lap 20, Perez and No. 7 Ed Taranto battled for fifth as the two collided which sent Taranto spinning. In the closing laps, Ray led the remainder of the race with Rhodes right there in tow. An intense battle for third occurred between No. 24 Cody Rickard, Abhat and No. 3 Chris Paulson and Rickard was able to hold them off for a top three finish.

Next up was the Street Stocks division and No. 00 Josh Whitfield led the way in qualifying with a fast time of 15.045 seconds. No. 32 Rich Lavalle and No. 86 Ken Poppen each shared a heat race win and Poppen stole the show in the trophy dash. The eight invert put No. 2 Mel Wilson and No. 22 Mark Blanton on the front row for the 35 lap main event. Blanton powered to the early lead on the outside as Wilson tucked in behind him for second. By lap three, Blanton found division points leader No. 08 Jared Beddow passing on the high side to steal the lead. On lap 15, Beddow picked up a ten car advantage over the field while the fight for second continued with Wilson and Poppen. Caution on lap 31 brought the field back together again and Beddow was able to maintain his lead on the restart to cruise to his sixth win for the season followed by Whitfield, No. 52 Matt Camp, Blanton and Poppen the top five. The highlight of the evening were the Modifieds featuring twin main events and 2012 State champion Scott Winters doing what he does best posted fastest lap in qualifying with a time of 14.202 seconds. No. 50 Gary Glenn and No. 25 Jay Linstroth each shared a heat race win and Linstroth collected the four lap trophy dash victory. In the first 40 lap main event No. 77 Michael Mitchell and Glenn led the field to the first green flag and Glenn took the early lead. Mitchell got held up on the inside line with not enough track space as No. 45 Rich Lindgren passed him on the outside. As Lindgren made his move for second he made another move for the lead as Lindgren and Glenn traded rubber Glenn fell back to second. No. 5 Jason Bamberg was right there behind Glenn as he jumped to the inside of Glenn for second. By lap ten, Lindgren in his brand new Firehouse Racing Modified had picked up five car lengths over the field however, Bamberg was on rails as he was beginning to reel him in. On lap 17, Lindgren suffered over heating problems and was forced to pull off ending his night early handing the lead to Bamberg. Caution on lap 26 for Linstroth, running second, was leaking transmission fluid on the track. Bamberg and Glenn restarted the field and Bamberg had no problem regaining the lead. Winters followed Bamberg through on the restart as he began looking to make his move and Bamberg would slam the door on him. Bamberg was able to hold off Winters to the checkered flag to collect his third victory.

In the second 40 lap main event, No. 3 Jason Fensler and No. 20 Scott Alves started the field and Fensler took the lead on lap one. An eager Winters, found himself on the rear bumper of Fensler impatiently waiting to make his move. Lap 11, Winters was able to steal lead however, Linstroth was right there in tow. On lap 25, Linstroth dove to the inside of Winters and the duo raced side by side as they approached lapped traffic which resulted Winters to settle for second. On lap 35, Linstroth pulled away from the field and Bamberg was on Winters tail. For the next five laps, Winters and Bamberg battled hard racing side by side for second till the last lap the two collided in turn one which sent Winters spinning. Linstroth cruised to an easy 3.104 second victory over Fensler, Lindgren, Bamberg and Alves the top five.
