Description of Role: Assistant Area Ministry Director (Lusophone Countries)

1. Organizational Information: Role Title : Assistant Area Ministry Director: Mozambique / Angola Region : Southern Africa Field Service Location : Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa Department : Africa Regional Support Services Direct Report : Area Ministry Director: Southern Africa Classification : Full Time – two year Personnel Type : Missionary

2. Purpose of the Role: The Assistant Area Ministry Director provides assistance to the Area Ministry Director in the execution of new strategies to revive ministry in the Lusophone countries. The role requires a candidate with the background and understanding of the culture of the Lusophone countries. The Assistant Area Ministry Director will specifically assist the Area Ministry Director to:

2.1 Coordinate TWR’s ministry in Mozambique which initially comprises of the Zambezia (Mocuba) Area, and intends to expand further North to the unreached people’s area, in accordance with the Global Muslim Strategy. 2.2 Supervise, guide, and lead activities in the Maputo and Central Mozambique Province. 2.3 Coordinate the production function in Angola within the envisaged new structure in collaboration with identified ministry partners. 2.4 Work towards the establishment of a strong National Partner within two years, and to ensure that the National Partner is a viable and self-sustainable ministry. 2.5 Establish strong networks for audience engagement, feedback, and relations.

3. Duties / Responsibilities 3.1 Establish and strengthen partnerships and church networks 3.2 Oversee and motivate all national and international staff of TWR in Mozambique and Angola 3.3 Coordinate fund development with establish organizations, Churches and Christian individuals within Mozambique and Angola. 3.4 Ensure appropriate execution and accountability for grants, and budgets allocated for ministry activities. 3.5 Ensure alignment with appropriate legal and financial matters within the country 3.6 Encourage and monitor partnership development. 3.7 Maintain and build capacity in the area of relevant audio media platforms (broadcast outlets, internet, new media, etc.). 3.8 Work in close cooperation with the Africa Regional Support Services, through the Area Ministry Director.

4. Decision-Making Authority for major decisions primarily resides within the scope of the Area Ministry Director portfolio. However, the incumbent is required to provide sound recommendations to the Area Ministry Director for appropriate strategic decision-making.

5. Focus Areas 5.1 Model servant leadership. 5.2 Monitor and supervise all teams in the area where TWR is present: Mocuba, Maputo, Nampula, and future further north - Luanda (Angola). 5.3 Oversee the management, personnel and resources of TWR. 5.4 Establish and maintain trust relationships with ministry partners. 5.5 Develop ministry with a vision for the establishment of a faith-reliant and self-sustainable National Partner. 5.6 Responsible for TWR’s programming, consistent with TWR’s policies and doctrinal statement. 5.7 Maintain relationships with organizations, with which TWR has contractual agreements. 5.8 Abide by the respective national laws and maintain relationships with their local authorities. 5.9 Develop and maintain strategic partnerships. 5.10 Support and engage in fundraising efforts in liaison with the Area Ministry Director.

6. Working Conditions Initially the role entails extensive travel with extended days in Mozambique and Angola. In addition, the role requires some administrative work in an office environment.

7. Experience Requirement 7.1 A strong sense of calling to ministry and servanthood. 7.2 Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent in the field of either: Missions, Theology, and/or Business; or related experience in similar field. 7.3 Sound knowledge and work experience in Financial Management.

8. Qualifications and Core Competencies 8.1 Commitment to TWR’s vision and mission statement, strategic direction, core values, TWR’s statement of faith. 8.2 Knowledge, skill and mental acumen equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree with good understanding in missions, leadership, financial accounting, business and cross-cultural communication. 8.3 General knowledge of the history, structure, operations of TWR, as well as the changing media landscape, funding and partnering models in missions 8.4 Proven experience in media or development, with a general knowledge of the history, structure, and operations of TWR, including the changing media landscape and funding models, and of partnering and developing of indigenous ministries to become self- sustainable 8.5 Experience in cross-cultural ministry and leadership development. 8.6 High level of interpersonal, social, communication skills. 8.7 Ability to plan, organize and manage resources – financial as well as human resources – towards strategic outcomes. 8.8 Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relations across a variety of cultures. 8.9 Strong sense of calling and “modeling the message” to enable others to fulfill their calling and ministry. 8.10 A willingness to work with teams and to practice the servant leadership style in the day-to- day work. 8.11 Ability to speak compellingly in various settings to present the case for support for the Ministry in the appropriate country. 8.12 Ability to lead, motivate and encourage working teams. 8.13 Active church membership in protestant/evangelical church. 8.14 Functional ability to perform work in English and one or more other languages relevant to the region.
