WEST END NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: CAS Carrera Program Coordinator Status: Full Time Reports To: Youth Development Department Director (YDD)

Job Summary: The Program Coordinator is responsible for implementing organized activities for CAS Carrera participants, youth between the ages of 12-19. Provide supervision of CAS Carrera staff and programs.

Qualifications:  Masters degree in Social Work, Health Education, Public Health, Community Health preferred  Minimum 3 years of experience in program and budget management, and evaluation  Minimum 3 years of experience in managing federal grants and monitoring contracts compliance  Minimum of 3 years of experience in family planning and comprehensive reproductive health care services required  Demonstrate an understanding of issues and interventions for teen pregnancy prevention and teen pregnancy/parenting

Compensation Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Excellent organizational and interaction skills  Bilingual in English and Spanish, with professional-level skills in both languages a plus  Effective communication skills both oral and written  Positive interaction and ability to work with people from varied backgrounds  Ability to routinely perform word processing, spreadsheet processing, and data base management using the computer  Experience developing programs  Demonstrate an understanding of issues and interventions for teen pregnancy prevention and teen pregnancy/parenting  Familiarity with community based agencies, services and resources especially comprehensive dental and physical care services  Supervisory experience is a must  Commitment to working as part of a team  Willingness to work flexible hours—including occasional weeknights and weekends  Ability to multi-task and to work effectively in a fast-paced environment  Excellent inter-group, communication, and analytical skills. Work Requirements: Routine work schedule is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week: afternoon and evening hours as scheduled by supervisor. Flexible work hours for completing job responsibilities Weekend work and travel required.

Responsibilities:  Ensure the fidelity of the program model, both component activities and program philosophy  Provide direct on-site and weekly supervision of all component staff members  Oversee the development and implementation of all program components and services  Develop and implement program schedule of activities every cycle; this includes rotations, staffing, space schedules, and special events  Maintain weekly contact with all program participants  Serve as a liaison with schools, government agencies, colleges, universities, foundations, and organizations involved with the program as necessary  Work with local community agencies and institution as needed  Assist the YDD Director in the ongoing program matters, including program and staff evaluation and other relevant matters  Work closely with program evaluators and complete monthly report of program activities, successes, challenges and upcoming activities to central staff and implementation managers  Attend monthly National Training Center meetings and trainings  Consistently arrive to work as scheduled  Provide referral services for families as needed  Ensure that registration and other participant forms are obtained for each program participant  Transport program participants to scheduled YDD activities using West End Neighborhood house vans.  Prepare and submit reports as required (i.e., accident reports, time sheets, sign in sheets, monthly reports, etc.)  Attend staff meetings as required  Adhere to the funding requirements as specified by the Office of Adolescent Health  In conjunction with the Education Coordinator, complete an individual educational plan for each participant while identifying their short and long-term academic goals in order to be promoted to the next grade level and/or high school completion.  Supervise program activities at all times to ensure safe and proper behavior and appropriate use of the building  Appropriately and effectively, manage work schedule so that all responsibilities of the position are being fulfilled  Assist with daily operations of the program, both self-initiated and in response to the request of the Youth Director, in such a manner which will help facilitate overall organizational functions  Continually maintain an orderly program environment by consistently exercising appropriate behavior management practices in compliance with the agency’s established policies and procedures
