1. What are the units for: Force? Work? Energy? Power?

2. What is the law of conservation of energy?

3. A zombie is being pulled up out of a well at a constant velocity. If the zombie has a mass of 50 kg and it takes 4 seconds to lift it 14 meters, what is the power required?

4. Mary pulls a 115-kg sled is moving along a frictionless horizontal surface for a distance of 10m. She pulls it by applying 812N of force to a rope that forms an angle of 37 with the horizontal. How much work was done by Mary on the sled? What would the work be if she applied the force horizontally to the sled?

5. Trey snowboards down a frictionless hill that is 12.6 m high. Trey and the snowboard have a combined mass of 95kg. If Trey starts from rest, what is his speed at the bottom of the hill? How much work would Jake need to do to climb back to the top of the hill (as he carries his snowboard)? What is his Gravitational Potential Energy at the top of the hill?

6. A motorcycle (413-kg) is traveling at 4.5 m/s until it accelerates and changes its velocity to 9.87m/s. What is the change of kinetic energy of the cycle? What is the work performed by the engine on the cycle?

7. A 1470-kg car has a net forward force of 5260N applied to it. The car starts from rest and travels down a horizontal highway. What is its kinetic energy and speed after it has traveled 178 m?

8. Kayla is sitting in a box. She and the box have a combined weight of 456N. She is sitting at rest and is surprised when Holly pushes her and she starts sliding down the hill at a velocity of 6m/s. Assuming the hill is 12.8 meters high, what is her speed when she reaches the bottom of the hill?

9. A rocket is launched vertically at a velocity of 36.4 m/s. How high does it rise?

10. Darcy slides across the floor in her socks with a velocity of 4.6 m/s until she crashes into the wall and comes to a stop. If her mass is 60 kg, and the wall exerts a stopping force of -520N, how long does it take her to stop?

11. An electric motor lifts a 100kg elevator 9m in 15s by exerting net force upwards of 1200N. What power does the motor produce?

12. Wes pushes a stationary wagon into motion. After 3 seconds the car is moving at 3.5 m/s. What is the acceleration of the wagon?
