Meeting called to order by Linda Bailey

Members Present: Krystal Monteros, Jon Tutt, Linda Bailey, Jason Lane, Ed Kennedy, Annette Zweig, Ryan Callaway (by proxy to Jon), and Nicole Williamson (by proxy to Jason).

QUORUM PRESENT!

Members absent: Tracey Wright

Guests: Meg Paulsen and Jamie Heckinger

Motion made and approved to accept the minutes from the December 4, 2010 meeting of the board of directors

Officer Reports:

1. Chair’s Report-

 Linda and Meg are talking to the Miller’s who have a daughter with Spina Bifida who is in her 20’s. They are considering getting more involved with SBAWS and possibly becoming board members

 Motion was made and approved to move our regular scheduled board meetings from the 2nd to the 4th Thursday of every other month

2. Executive Director’s Report-

 Walk-N-Roll Kick-Off is scheduled for March 20th for volunteers, donors and team captains

 Walk-N-Roll is scheduled for April 30th

 Motion was made and approved to accept the proposed Walk-N-Roll budget

 CS Medical has sponsored the Walk-N-Roll at the $500 level

 Meg is working with Swedish Hospital on a Prenatal Prevention Program (After this is done we will reach others like Seattle Children’s Hospital)

 Motion made and approved to use $1,260 for the Northwest Women’s Show event (iPad will be purchased and raffled off at a future SBAWS event)

 Jon set up a new email account for Meg ([email protected])

 Meg has provided Krystal with a printer/copier/scanner and installed Microsoft 2007 (Access) on her home computer in order to make her make her job as SBAWS Secretary easier.

3. No current Vice-Chair’s Report

4. Secretary- Since the last board meeting on December 4th, 2010 we have had 6 new members added on to the SBAWS Database

5. Treasurer’s Report-

 Motion made and approved to accept the Year-End Financial Report Statements

 Motion made and approved to accept the proposed fundraising and privacy policies as Jon has prepared them

 Motion made and approved to use SBAWS funds to pay $865 for Insurance Premi- ums and $795.98 for General Liability

 Jon attended the Revised Affiliation Agreement/Revenue Task Force Webinars where restricted and unrestricted funds were discussed

 The cut-off date for the purchases through Urban Up Recycling were too close to the time we received the information about the program in order to properly take ad- vantage of the program

 Meg is going to update the information on the 211 forms for Seattle Crisis

Old Business:

1. Dave Carl’s Restricted Donation- Meg is working with Dave Carl to reformat the restrictions behind his $25.00 donation. SBAWS will either profit from his book by him donating actual books or by splitting his profits from his book

Dean Imbeau’s funding request- Linda will contact Dean Imbeau to verify that his child has Spina Bifida. Once that has been verified, she will send an email to the board to approve or disapprove Dean Imbeau’s request for wheelchair funding

2. Election of SBA Convention Delegates- Motion made and approved to send Linda Bailey and Krystal Monteros to the SBA Convention as delegates and Meg Paulsen, Jason Lane and Jamie Heckinger as attendees, on a reimbursement basis. Five total at a cost of $1200 each ($6000) plus the registration for the five at about $300 each for a total cost of $7500

3. SBAWS fax & Toll-Free number- Motion made and approved to get rid of the SBAWS fax number.

 Meg is getting cost information, including taxes, on toll-free numbers from different companies, in writing

 We are keeping the 800 number and the 253 number but attempting to give Meg access to both of these phone lines

4. “What is SB?” Revisions- Revision of local inserts for “What is SB?” brochures will be post- poned until the SBAWS toll-free number is taken care of.

 For now Meg will use stickers with the correct contact information to cover the in- correct information on brochures, so that they may be distributed now

5. Business Cards- Jon is sending Meg and Linda updated SBAWS business cards

6. The Super Mall- License to shop program has been dropped

7. New Board Member- Motion made and approved to accept Jamie as an SBAWS Board Mem- ber

Next Meeting: Thursday, April 30, 2011 (in-person board meeting after the Walk-N-Roll in Olympia)
