4. Plans for Scottish wide events in 2017 Further to the last meeting and taking account of feedback we discussed and provisionally agreed as follows to be ratified on Thursday’s teleconference call meeting.
We will issue a statement as a committee about plans for the year and activities around theme of Unity and coming together to highlight our wish to be proactively involved in both living out and promoting Woodcraft aims and principles.
We would like to bring membership together to create a banner in time to take to the annual anti -racist march in Scotland around St. Andrews day, and to seek everyone’s participation in the march. This activity and aim will continue to bring people together of ages as requested in feedback from last year, unify us across Scotland, and help us to promote what we stand for and why it is a positive choice to be part of WCF in Scotland.
To this end we have drafted the following plan: - 11 June 2017- event in Edinburgh from 12 to 4pm to which everyone invited. We will have a skill sharing workshop around using social media with input on safety around use of social media and having an online presence, particularly as young people. At same time we will have a meeting for the Gathering of the Smalls. This will be followed by collective activity around making the banner and food and refreshments. - We will ask any groups able to make it, to attend the launch of the Refugee Festival in which our new Garnethill group hopes to be participating - We will ask all groups to hold a session on refugees during week commencing 19th June 2017 - We will continue with a banner making activity/workshop during summer camp - We will review need for activity either together or at group/district level to bring this to completion early October 2017. - We will attend the November march which we believe to be on 25th November 2017 with our banner and follow this up with WCF social gathering in Glasgow. 6. Committee meetings Agreed that face to face meetings are helpful and assisting us to work more effectively as a committee and that we want to agree dates for coming year. We find that a Sunday am in Glasgow is working well although open to travelling elsewhere. We are aware that Clare R may not be able to make all and do not want staff to feel in any way excluded or removed from decision making. We would continue to have telephone conference calls as needed on the guidance of Clare and ourselves. We have set the following dates for face to face meetings up to next SG and will agree telephone conference calls as needed ongoing basis.
The meeting dates proposed are as follows, and all 10am-12 noon, Glasgow unless otherwise agreed: Sunday 14th May 2017 Summer camp- 2017 Sunday 3rd September 2017 Sunday 12th November 2017 Sunday 14th January 2018
We will let all members know about these dates and make clear open meetings with anyone welcome to attend 7. AOB Are there the resources to have a pop up banner for each area so that this can be displayed whenever we are having outside meetings to advertise WCF?
