Lincoln, Neb., Aug. 18, 2011 -- Sixty-eight University of Nebraska-Lincoln students participated in the 22nd annual Nebraska at Oxford Program at England's University of Oxford, the oldest university in the English-speaking world. Sponsored by the UNL College of Business Administration, the four-week program began July 17 and concluded Aug. 13. Based at Oxford's Jesus College, the annual summer program is open to students of all academic majors. The group is a mix of undergraduate and graduate students. "Traveling through London and leading the group was an experience that will also stay with me for the rest of my life. This group is so tight-knit as a whole and I have made friends that will last forever," said Martin Cunningham from Omaha, a junior business administration student. The students took two lecture-tutorial courses on British political and international economic policy -- Political Economy of Britain Since 1945 and International Economics and Business -- for six hours of academic credit at UNL. Non-business students could enroll in a course on Theatre, Arts and Literature of Great Britain instead of International Economics and Business. Lecturers and tutors for the courses are faculty and staff from Jesus College. Field trips and cultural excursions supplement the course lectures and tutorials.
