Parishioner Volunteer Grants (for parishioners of the Christ Church Cathedral and members of the Cathedral Community)

Christ Church Cathedral Mission Statement

Our mission is to be an inclusive community of caring Christians, rich and poor, young and old, of every race. Worshipping together, we seek God's love and dare to follow wherever God leads us. Giving of ourselves and our resources, we strive to care for one another and the world beyond our church.

Building on this principal, the mission of the Outreach Committee at the Christ Church Cathedral and its Community Grants Committee is to promote the Cathedral's mission ”by giving of ourselves and our resources to care for the world beyond the Christ Church Cathedral.” To this end, the Grants Committee accepts proposals from worthy organizations, carefully reviews and evaluates these proposals, and the work of the applying organizations, then recommends approval of funds that the Cathedral has set aside for community grants. Part of the funds dedicated to grant-making are earmarked for small grants to groups in which parishioners or members of the Christ Church Cathedral are directly involved.

The Grants Committee directs you to the mission priority areas also contained on this web site. These mission priorities are established by the Outreach Committee of the

1 Christ Church Cathedral and should serve as a useful resource in focusing your request.

2 In preparing your proposal, the following guidelines are suggested:

1. A member of the Cathedral community must be personally engaged in the project and/or institution soliciting the grant. Projects should fulfill the mission priorities discussed above. 2. As a rule of thumb, parishioner volunteer grants are awarded for amounts up to $500. Larger grants are awarded through the full community grants process. 3. The organization must provide a copy of an IRS Letter of Determination stating that it is a 510 (c )(3) nonprofit entity and a copy of Form W-9 with its Taxpayer Identification Number.

In your 1-page proposal, please address the following:

1. Describe the project or service for which funds are requested, the amount requested and the results to be achieved with the grant. 2. List other groups who are also supporting the project or service. 3. Describe the relationship that this organization has with the Christ Church Cathedral and identify the parishioners who are engaged with the project and their role in it. 4. Include e-mail addresses of the parishioner requesting the grant, as well as a contact person at the organization receiving the grant which can be used for correspondence.
