Lake Tapps Lacrosse Club Lax Happenings September, 2012

We hope that you’re all off to a great start in school! LTLC is already gearing up for the coming season and we want to pass along the following information:

The Amazing Growth of Lacrosse

Lacrosse is currently the fastest growing sport in the country, and LTLC is greatly contributing to that growth! Now in its ninth year, LTLC has expanded from one middle school boy’s team in 2005 to an anticipated 17 teams and 300 athletes for the 2013 season.

As the club grows, the board is continually reevaluating the best way to meet the needs of our growing lacrosse community. Based on current numbers, there will be enough players to have four teams at the high school level in 2015. Our current strategic plan indicates that players should be distributed across our catchment area in such a way that teams can be created based on where the player attends high school.

In anticipation of this change, LTLC will begin registering players at the younger age levels so that youth teams align with the anticipated catchment areas of the future high school teams. This will give players the opportunity to play together throughout their developing years and will lend itself to more cohesive high school programs in the future. For the 2013 season, players at the 3/4 and 5/6 age levels will be registering based on the school district they attend:

North Auburn and Dieringer School Districts East Enumclaw and White River School Districts West Sumner School District

Players in grades 7/8 will once again be placed on teams based on tryouts. There will be one “A” team and players will be placed on one of the two “B” teams based on their school.

We encourage families with students in the Dieringer School District to take this information into consideration when selecting their future high school.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the current registration process or the future growth of lacrosse in the Lake Tapps area, please do not hesitate to contact our Director of Player Development, Jenny Pugh, at [email protected]

Coaching Applications Now Being Accepted – You Can Make a Difference!

The fantastic growth we are experiencing means that there are always new opportunities for those who are interested in coaching. You can be a huge part of our growth and success in the 2013 season!

If you have learned to love the sport, have a passion for working with kids and like to have a lot of FUN, we invite you to consider becoming a part of our coaching staff. We are looking for both head coaches and assistant coaches at all levels of play. No experience? No problem! We offer great training opportunities and will guide you throughout the season.

If interested, visit the LTLC Website and download a 2013 coaching application found under 'Club,' and then 'Documents.' We need applications no later than Sunday, October 7th. You can send the completed applications to Jill Ranft, our Coaching Administrator, at [email protected]. If you have any questions, please call her at 360.825.1891.

Create the New “Look” for LTLC – Logo Design Contest

As LTLC continues to grow, we’d like to develop a standard logo that is easily recognizable and that can be incorporated on our uniforms, helmets and merchandise. If you’re creative and have a unique idea, please consider entering our LTLC logo contest! Your design should:

Be simple and easily recognizable Include “LT” or “LTLC” Use black, white and vegas gold in the color scheme Incorporate lacrosse in some way

The deadline for submission is Monday, October 8th. The winner will receive a free registration for the 2013 season! To submit your logo, please reply to this email and include your design as an attachment. The winner will be announced on October 12th.

Fall Helmet Purchase

Each fall, LTLC puts together a group helmet purchase that can save you up to $75 per helmet! Please note that all high school boys will need to have their own helmet and equipment for the season, so you may want to begin thinking about birthday and Christmas gifts.

Please refer to the email sent out last week and contact Cindi Cozzi at [email protected] if interested.

Helmet and Equipment Clarification!!

Please note that the Cascade website refers to our gold color as “Old Gold” rather than as “Vegas Gold” as noted in the previous email. High School Boy’s helmets must be primarily black with Old Gold accents. Also, we would like to clarify that high school players need to provide all of their own equipment including helmet, shoulder pads, arm pads and gloves. There is no rental equipment available at the high school level and no reduced fee for providing your own equipment.

Seatown Classic

Earlier we sent an email about a great opportunity this fall to watch top-level lacrosse locally and help our club at the same time. That event is the inaugural Seatown Classic, the first Division I men’s lacrosse game to be held in the Pacific Northwest!! The game will pit the University of Maryland vs. the University of Denver on October 13th at Starfire Sports in Tukwila.

You have an opportunity to purchase your tickets now and help out the Lake Tapps Lacrosse Club at the same time! If you purchase your tickets through LTLC, $4 from each ticket (sale price of $22) will go directly to our club to help offset program costs as we continue to grow. And the great news is that purchasing tickets through LTLC will not cost you any more than the general ticket price…a true win/win! To hold your tickets now please email Kathi Lucchesi at [email protected] with your name, phone number, email address and number of tickets requesting. Due to the high demand and limited number of tickets available, payment of Seatown Classic tickets must be received before they are guaranteed. Mail payment ($22 per ticket – payable to LTLC) to: Lake Tapps Lacrosse Club - 3128 226th Ave. E., Buckley, WA 98321

For more information about the Seatown Classic visit the website at www.seatownclassic.org.

Registration for the 2013 Season

Believe it or not, we are already receiving inquiries about registering for the upcoming season. Sounds like there are a lot of new players out there looking forward to being a part of our lacrosse community! Registration will begin on November 1, 2012. We anticipate that we will once again experience a lot of growth so please plan to register early.
