CATHOLIC FAMILY CENTER JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Outreach & Training Coordinator DATE: December 22, 2011 DEPARTMENT: Children, Youth & Family STATUS: non-exempt PROGRAM: Refugee, Immigration & Language Services (RILS) APPROVAL: Dep. Dir.______SUPERVISOR: RILS Associate Director HR Dir.______BAND: ______SUMMARY The Outreach & Training Coordinator’s general purpose is to provide training, information and support to program participants, volunteers, community groups and service partners that promote the strength, stability and self-sufficiency of the local refugee community and encourage networking and collaboration among program stakeholders. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 1.0 Acts as lead for RILS client and ethnic community training and orientation initiatives 1.1 Leads the development of orientation and training curricula and planning across RILS programs 1.2 Coordinates, facilitates and ensures delivery of R&P Cultural Orientation for new refugee arrivals. 1.3 Plans, coordinates and ensures delivery of NYSRRAP & other community workshops/trainings including securing appropriate presenter, coordinating transportation, arranging locale and appropriate interpretation assistance as necessary 2.0 Coordinates and delivers RILS volunteer training, support and development activities 2.1 Delivers monthly training to new individual volunteers and to new groups on as-needed basis 2.2 Assists resettlement program staff in assignment of new volunteers 2.3 Organizes and facilitates monthly volunteer networking and/or training events 2.4 Fields requests from community members re. volunteer opportunities 2.5 Provides support, guidance and evaluation of active volunteers 2.6 Assists program management in the development and delivery of outreach and recruitment activities 3.0 Fosters collaborative effort to build capacity and improve refugee service coordination across network of stakeholders. 3.1 Promotes awareness regarding CFC services, initiatives and responsibilities 3.2 Researches and promotes awareness of resources available within the community, ethnic communities and related service providers 3.3 Attends local community meetings to represent agency 3.4 Provides outreach within the network of stakeholders to encourage partnerships and build relationships that will help refugee communities overcome barriers to access 3.5 Collaborates with refugee ethnic community groups to improve their own capacity for self-sufficiency and integration within the larger community. 4.0 Is aware of and actively supports the Agency's Core Competency initiatives of being Collaborative and Community Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse. 5.0 Other duties as requested by supervisor. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. EXPERIENCE: Experience working with refugee or other alien population preferred OTHER: Foreign language capacity preferred, experience as presenter/trainer preferred Strong computer skills and knowledge of basic database functions preferred
