Volume 1, Issue 2 February 2008 Dear RV’ers, If you were at Pismo Beach, you already know we all had a good time. If you were not there, we missed you. We had 13 rigs and Ralph and Liz Beckler did a great job as our wagonmasters. They organized the Friday night potluck and arranged a catered dinner of chicken and tri-tip on Saturday. If the Becklers had anything to do with the weather, they get an A+. We had beautiful sunny days and just a little chill at night. Some of us nature lovers went to see the monarch butterflies, then up the coast to see the elephant seals. What a contrast; beautiful butterflies in the eucalyptus trees and 5,000 pound seals covering the beaches. The Pismo Beach habitat is believed to be the largest in the Western United States. The monarchs return in November and stay through February. Cindy Sewell donated a basket filled with all kinds of gourmet goodies. Thank you Cindy for the basket but looks like your lucky streak is finally over. The lucky winner this month was Pat Coutts. I’m sure Pat and Chuck are going to enjoy your hard work and effort. Speaking of lucky streaks, Don Cannon won 2 bingos while some of us won, but didn’t break even. Thanks to Walt Rodin who called the bingo, we all enjoyed the game. Walt, the bingo calling job is permanently yours. It was good to see Walt & Herma recovered and back in the mix. We were also pleased to see Stan and Suzi Taub at the outing. At our meeting, George McKiernan was voted as the new treasurer. Jerry Sewell will continue as interim treasurer until George assumes the position. We also voted in new members Pete & Carroll Stewart, Dennis & Sandy Love, and Hugh & Marian Lyttleton. See you all at Laughlin President Jack Gebhardt

AL MALAIKAH RVers 1 Ladies,

We had such a good time in Pismo. We relaxed, played games, did a little sightseeing, socialized, ate, ate and ate some more. It’s impossible to diet when Bonnie Blackman brings her macaroni and cheese.

Cindy put together a basket brimming with goodies. Pat Coutts had the lucky ticket and will enjoy Paso Livo Tangerine Olive Oil, Jack Creek Cellar Chardonnay wine, a variety of nuts and candies, Cindy’s homemade chili sauce and jellies, marinades, a set of cheese knives, a heart shaped candy dish full of candy kisses, a red silicone whisk, pink hot chocolate, a heart shaped cookie cutter, a ginger peach reed diffuser, Valentine dish cloths, pinot noir jelly, lemon grass soap, butter almond thins, peanut butter filled pretzels, a tall heart shaped candle pillar, and much more. Thanks Cindy! Because of your basket we raised $300.00.

We are off to a good start raising money for the burn camp. In the first two months of the year, we have raised $865.00. The ladies voted that the January 2009 donation to the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation will be made in Lorraine McNaught and Ginger Pierce’s name. So let’s keep up the good work on the baskets!

To recap who is doing baskets for the rest of the year, I submit the following: April /Betsy Hall – May/Carmen & Pat - June/Louann - July/Liz & Otheta – August/Norma - September/Herma & Lee, October /Bonnie & Betty Mulcahy - November/Tena & Joanne.

I do need to acknowledge my new raffle ticket sales assistant, Rachel. I found out the guys just can’t say no to a beautiful little three year old who says “please.” Bonnie and Aaron’s granddaughter Rachel and I became bff’s (best friends forever) this weekend.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Laughlin.

Don Cannon is doing well after surgery for removal of a mass in the colon. There was no cancer so he and Betty are feeling very positive about his recovery.

Bobbie is staying home waiting for the infection to clear up so that she can have surgery. Bobbie, we know how hard it must be for you to stay put. Just hang in there!

Betty & Art Nelson made a surprise visit to Pismo Beach. Betty was not able to get out of the car but those who were in the park when they arrived were delighted to see them. Keep up the good work Betty.

June Morris has been under the weather but Myles hopes they will be able to join us in Hemet.

If you know of anyone in our club who has an illness and needs our prayers, please send me an e-mail. My e-mail address is [email protected]

Love Louann
