Most schools offer a variety of scholarships and financial aid. Please check the websites of the schools you are interested in for more opportunities. The ones posted below have specifically sent a notice to the KHS College Room announcing the scholarship. To get these scholarships you must apply to and attend the school sponsoring the scholarship.
List is alphabetically sorted by school.
Fisher College – Criminal Justice Program Scholarship & Psychology Program Scholarship Amount $2,000 Deadline Not specified. Requirements Apply online. Eligibility High school senior attending Fisher College in Fall 2013 and enrolling in either a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice or a Bachelor’s in Psychology. University of Houston – Bauer Excellence Scholarship Amount $10,000 per academic year (renewable) Deadline Not specified. Requirements No separate application is required. Qualified students who apply to UH-Main Campus and select “Business” as their major of choice via www.applytexas.org will be considered for the BES if they are admitted into the C.T. Bauer College of Business Eligibility Incoming 2013 freshmen who apply and are admitted into UH and the C.T. Bauer College of Business; must have a Critical Reading + Math SAT score of 1400 or above or 32 ACT Composite score; be ranked in the top 15% of their high school class. Lawrence Tech University Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Amount $8,000 ($2,000 each year for 4 years at Lawrence Tech) Deadline 05/01/2013 for online nomination Requirements Must be nominated online by your counselor. Eligibility JUNIOR who has completed one year of chemistry or physics, plus at least two years of college preparatory mathematics courses (Algebra I, II, III, Geometry, Precalculus, Trigonometry, Calculus, Probability & Statistics) with a “B” (3.0 GPA) or better grade in those courses. Must also have a composite 22 ACT or 1050 SAT (Critical Reading + Math) and be an active and responsible citizen of school and community. Notes Please see your counselor if you wish to be nominated. University of Nebraska – George Beadle Scholarship and Ruth Leverton Scholarship Amount George Beadle: $12,500 per year (for 4 years); Ruth Leverton: $8,500 per year (for 4 years) Deadline 05/01/2013 Requirements Submit U of Nebraska admission materials before the deadline. Eligibility Ruth Leverton: minimum SAT score of 1090 or an ACT score of 24 and a B average. Schramm Freshman Scholarship Amount 1st: $1,000; 2nd: $500; 3rd: $250 Deadline 05/31/2013 Requirements Application and copy of high school transcript. Eligibility Male freshman students enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin. Must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Scholarship is NOT contingent on joining the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. Scholarship winners will be selected based upon their academic achievements, leadership abilities, extracurricular activities and community service. University of Texas of the Permian Basin – Texas Science Scholar Program Amount $10,000 Bachelor of Science Degree (approx. equivalent to $3,800 scholarship each academic year for up to 4 years) Deadline Must be admitted and accepted to UTPB by 08/01/2013 Requirements Texas Science Scholar application. Must live in UTPB housing. Eligibility Texas resident accepted and attending UTPB in fall of 2013. Must be majoring in chemistry, computer science, geology, information systems or computer science. Wells College 21st Century Leadership Award Amount $40,000 ($10,000 per year for 4 years study at Wells College) Deadline 04/25/2013 for nomination form Requirements Must be nominated by your counselor. Official transcript must be included with nomination form. Eligibility JUNIOR with a cumulate GPA in academic subject areas of at least 90% (or a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale) in a college preparatory program and demonstrated leadership ability through school and community activities. Wofford College Scholars Program Amount Scholarships range from $3,000 per year up to full scholarship ($45,000 per year approx.) Deadline Unspecified Requirements Must be nominated by your counselor. Eligibility Seniors must rank in the top 10% of their class and have achieved a minimum score of 1250 on the PSAT or SAT or 28 on the PLAN or ACT Notes Please see your counselor if you wish to be nominated.
