Hugh G. Wales Award for Outstanding Faculty Advisors

The American Marketing Association established an awards program for faculty advisors of AMA collegiate chapters in 1977-78. This awards program was named in honor of Dr. Hugh G. Wales, who was instrumental in founding the collegiate chapter program and was the Association's first collegiate chapter advisor at the University of Illinois-Champaign.

Purpose The purpose of this program is to recognize the contributions of faculty advisors to the AMA collegiate chapter program by honoring outstanding advisors.

Eligibility All faculty advisors of AMA collegiate chapters are eligible for nomination, except those currently serving as representatives on the Collegiate Chapters Council. Before a faculty advisor is nominated, he/she must have two consecutive years of experience or more advising an AMA collegiate chapter. The 2008-2009 recipients of either Faculty Advisor of the Year or Outstanding Advisor Award cannot be nominated in 2009-2010.

Awards Advisor Awards are granted in the following categories:

Advisor Of The Year -- One advisor selected from among the outstanding faculty advisors as the top advisor to a collegiate chapter in 2009-2010.

Outstanding Faculty Advisors -- No more than two (2) advisors will be selected as outstanding advisors in 2009-2010.

Procedures Collegiate chapters are invited to nominate a faculty advisor for consideration in the advisor awards program. Nominating procedures are simple and consist of submitting two documents:

 One (1) copy of the official nomination form, and

 Five (5) copies of the nomination report.

Nominations must be received no later than February 15, 2010. The nomination report details the supporting evidence for the faculty advisor nomination in accordance with the evaluation criteria, and student judges are selected from collegiate chapters to judge the nominations.
