E.G. Britney, Justin Timberlake, Westlife

Your teacher has decided you should be in charge of the college band. There are lots of tasks involved in becoming the best band manager the college, no the world, has ever seen.

Task 1 Your first task is to decide the type of music your band is going to play.

Will it be:

E.g. Britney, Justin Timberlake, Westlife

E.g. Led Zepplin, Jimi Hendrix, Nickleback

E.g. Eminem, Dr Dre, 50 Cent

Task 2 Whatever style you pick you have to research the 3 artists connected to that style of music. You have to find out and produce a PowerPoint on:

Name(s)

Selection of hits (Try and include an example song)

Why do you like them? Task 3 Your band will be nothing without an awesome logo. You need to design one. You’ll need to think of the name of your band and style of music when designing your logo. Design 3 using at least one of the following sites:

Task 7 Your band members can be actual musicians or they can be you and your friends. You have to produce a piece of work with their pictures on and a description of them. E.g. What do they look like? Why are they in your band? Task 8 Now you have to advertise your band. They are playing a gig on the 13th of July at Brixton Academy. The gig starts at 9.00pm and you have a support group of your choice.

Please design a poster advertising this gig and make sure you have all the relevant information on it.

The information needed is:

 Date  Venue  Time  Band name  Support Band Can you think of other information to include? Task 9 Advertising is very important if you want your band to be successful. Your band wants you to do a television advert for them. Before you make their advert answer these questions:

 What makes a good advertising campaign?  What adverts do you like?  What adverts do you not like?  What is a jingle?  What time are most people watching television?

Task 10 You now have to storyboard your advert. A storyboard is a series of pictures that show what happens in your advert. Task 11 Your band is ready to rehearse for their gig. They now need songs to play! They need you to choose them some music to play.

You have to pick music for the following:

 A song that makes you happy  A song that makes you sad  A song that you would clean your house to  Your favourite song  The worst song you know

Please explain your choices. Type up your choices and present them to the rest of the group.
