Physical Education

Dear Parents and Guardians, We are looking forward to an exciting year in the PE Department at Pirtle Elementary School. We believe in stressing safety and fun while promoting life long physical fitness skills. PE classes include a lot of movement and require a great amount of cooperation. Below you will find a list of the rules that have been established for the classroom/gym. Respect Others Listen and follow directions Stay in assigned area Move with control & awareness of others Keep all body parts to yourself *****The following is a listing of consequences for not following the rules. 1. Verbal warning will be given. 2. Sit and Think Time..time-outs are for the students to think about their behavior and how they are going to correct it. They are to sit quietly in a designated area, away from the group. This is not a playtime. 3. Parent Contact..This is to inform you that your child has chosen not to abide by the class rules. 4. Office Referral..this is only after we have exhausted all of the above consequences and continue to have problems. At this time, the principal will become involved. **If your child has any physical limitations or medical problems, please let us know so that we may adjust their activity if necessary. Also, if your child is not feeling well, please send a note if you do not want them to have PE. If they are out more than 3 days, a DOCTOR’S note will be needed to excuse them from activity. **For their safety we would like to see your child dressed in tennis shoes for PE. If they wear boots, sandals or flip-flops to school, PLEASE allow them to bring appropriate shoes for PE that day. Girls are encouraged to wear shorts under skirts and dresses. **If you have any questions, please feel free to call us. Our conference time is 8:55-9:40am each day. We would be more than happy to speak with you. Let’s work together to help your child have the best year possible at Pirtle Elementary!
