Facilities Maintenance Worker Jurisdiction

MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

The Facilities Maintenance Worker (FMW) inspects, maintains, and makes minor repairs to buildings and grounds, roads and parking, railroad and transfer track, fuel dispensing facilities, alarm systems, heating and cooling, cranes, freight elevators, doors, windows, walkways, fences, sewers, water systems, and drainage systems at BPA facilities. If the contemplated job is beyond the scope as described above, and falls under the jurisdiction of another craft, contact must be made with the craft having jurisdiction of the work.

 The Chief Operator, Project Manager, Regional Manager, or other Management Official is to initiate discussions with General Craft Services or another appropriate foreman when work is beyond the scope of the FMW job standard.

 The General Craft Services Manager is the first point of contact within General Craft Services. In his absence, contact may be made with the individual Craft Foreman or Equipment Operator Dispatcher.

 Discussion shall include: Scope and jurisdiction of the job Urgency of the job Coordination with the crew or outage schedules Availability of resources Contracting options

If work is not covered under the jurisdiction of another BPA craft, an FMW crew can be used.

FMWs can be used in support of other nonelectric crews under the direction of the Craft supervisor.

FMWs are not to be used for work that is electrical in nature.
