Biography

Rob Vickerman started playing rugby at the age of five – not surprising when you know his father, both grandfathers and mother all played club rugby in and around Yorkshire!

While playing for Hymers College he represented England Schools and England U19s before current England Coach, Stuart Lancaster, took him to Leeds Tykes.

His rise through the Leeds Academy led to first team performances in the Heineken Cup and the Premiership whereby he made 50 appearances at both Leeds and latterly Newcastle. This was made all the more special after 21 months out injured with two successive ACL injuries in that period.

The route of Sevens then took hold and Rob has currently played in 29 tournaments, citing tournament wins in New Zealand (2009, 2013) and Twickenham (2009) as his most memorable – and he has also been named as England captain

Rob has a 1st Class Degree in Leadership and Management and cites self- awareness as being a great asset for anyone, not just sportspeople!

GEORGE COOPE

George is an inspirational member of Year 4 at Willerby Carr Lane Primary School. He suffers from Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. When it was diagnosed he was told he would have to give up his position at Hull City Football Academy. However, George refused to give in to his condition and continued to play football for his local Sunday league team – Costello Bulldogs – in his new position as Goalkeeper. He has continued to be as active as possible and is currently recovering from recent open heart surgery. He is an inspiration to the whole school community for his positive attitude and personality.
