1. Mapping activity Students are to create a map of where they live. This can be of inside their house or the street/s where they live. The map must include a border, orientation, legend, title, and scale (BOLTS). The map must be hand drawn using a ruler.

2. Research Task Students are to research tourism in the Great Barrier Reef. They are to write a half page advertisement for environmentally responsible tourism in the Great Barrier Reef demonstrating their understanding of the geography of the region. Their advertisement will need to include: - A description of the Great Barrier Reef using geographical language - Highlight the types of environmentally responsible tourism people can do at the Great Barrier Reef

Marking Guidelines - Students have demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of the Great Barrier Reefs geography - Students have demonstrated a sophisticated understanding of environmentally responsible tourism - The advertisement is creative and uses sophisticated language.

3. Timeline Students are to create a timeline of someone else’s life. The timeline must include 10 significant events from their life. It must also have a clear scale and be divided into key ‘ages’ or periods of time.

4. Narrative Writing

Imagine you are an archaeologist, famous for excavating sites related to ancient China. Write a one page narrative of your recent most exciting discovery. Your narrative must discuss the following: - The civilisation being investigated and where you are excavating - What you have discovered in your excavation - How and why your discovery is important - How the discovery will affect you.

You can write this as a diary entry, blog post, or short story.

Marking Guidelines - Students have addressed all points outlined using sophisticated language - The narrative is well structured and follows a narrative form/structure - The text demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the ancient civilisation and the importance of archaeology
