Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce JOB DESCRIPTION Membership Development Specialist

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for meeting established annual goals for selling new memberships, sponsorships and advertising to support the Chamber’s budget. This sales position is conducted almost exclusively outside the office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES  Recruit new members  Sell all sponsorships and advertising

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES  Promote membership retention, including developing and conducting an annual survey of Chamber members  Develop effective membership recruitment plans and marketing materials  Analyze and explain membership trends

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:  Prefer strong sales and customer service orientation  Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, psychology, public relations, or related field  Prefer at least three years experience in consultative sales, customer service, and customer relationship management  Have the ability to work independently, with self-discipline and initiative, and with little or no supervision  Prefer strong communication skills (written and spoken)  Prefer good computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Excel, ACT)  Prefer the ability to direct a membership recruitment and retention program utilizing volunteer resources  Understand the importance of professional dress and behavior  Must have reliable transportation and a current valid driver’s license and clean driving record if driving a vehicle

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Position requires ability to move throughout the Chamber’s service area to meet with Chamber members in their places of business. This position reports directly to the Director of Marketing and Government Affairs.
