Hours: 7.5 hours per week (3.30pm to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday)

Responsible to: Finance Manager

Role Purpose: To ensure that the Aston Centre is kept clean, safe and comfortable for its visitors and members of staff, by providing thorough housekeeping duties throughout the building.

Birmingham Settlement tackles social disadvantage by working with individuals, agencies and communities to identify gaps and assets to develop and improve existing and new services.

Community Engagement & Engagement activities e.g. support for older people, young people, Wellbeing service users and communities. Community Development Community development and capacity building/infrastructure support. Financial Inclusion Debt and welfare benefits advice and associated support.

Children and Early Years Children and Early Years Learning and Development.

The requirements listed below are broad definitions of the role. Birmingham Settlement reserves the right to amend and/or change these as and when it sees fit in line with changing needs. The post holder is expected, and agrees, as part of their role to be flexible to this end.

Key accountabilities/job purpose:

2. Core Duties:

Main responsibilities include: a) Complete general duties such as hoovering, dusting, mopping, emptying bins and cleaning toilets

b) Follow instructions from the Finance Manager regarding specific cleaning requirements and standards

c) Ensure correct materials and equipment are used for each cleaning task

d) Ensure all materials and equipment are cleaned, secured and returned in the appropriate condition for next use

e) Ensure all Health and Safety requirements are met

f) Ensure stores are well maintained and left in a clean and tidy fashion

Person Specification:

ESSENTIAL

1. Experience:

a) Previous experience cleaning in an office environment. b) Health & safety awareness. c) Customer care awareness. d) Close attention to detail. e) Competent to work with standard cleaning equipment (including cleaning chemicals).

f) An understanding of Health and Safety (COOSH experience preferred)

2. Communication/interpersonal skills:

a) Good general communication skills. b) Ability to use initiative in a busy and constantly changing environment. c) A pro-active approach and ability to work flexibly and creatively with colleagues. d) Good awareness and understanding of the principles and application of customer care. 3.
