West Sussex Buddy Volunteer Activities will be at Chestnut Tree House, in the community or in the Where family home.
Saturday Youth Group 11:00-16:00 held monthly. Activity days and Commitment social events during weekends and school holidays.
You would be assisting us with a range of activities for our youth Why We Want You groups and on activity day. These will include creative play within and outside of Chestnut Tree House.
An opportunity to work and gain experience with children and Young People who have life shortening conditions with special and complex needs What’s In It For You We will provide you with induction training which will include an Introduction to the Hospice, Health and Safety Awareness and relevant on the job training
You should: Be reliable, flexible, adaptable, willing to travel and a good timekeeper Have a supportive nature with a sense of fun and good sense of humour Have an insight into children with disabilities and the needs of their families, a commitment to Young People and the ability to communicate effectively with them, providing a warm and Your Skills friendly approach Have the ability to be non-judgmental and accept people as individuals and respect their differences and the ability to maintain an attitude of tolerance and acceptance to Young People whose values and behavior may be different from your own Be willing to gain knowledge and experience to meet the needs of the disabled Young Person
You will need to: Have been approved by the Disclosure & Barring Service (unless under 16 years old) Mandatory Understand the importance of confidentiality Have any personal bereavement grief resolved Be at least 15 years old Be intending to volunteer for at least a year
