I. Call to order- Elisabeth Yogerst @ 6:04 pm.

II. Reports: A. Secretary- Patti Bouchonville 1. November 2010 minutes motion to approve by Patti Heisel; second by Connie Worzala. Approved.

B. Treasurer- Report – Shirley Triest-Robertson 1. Annual and 4th quarter reports were sent in to National 2. Balances a. As of 1/1/11 we have $1,297.86 in checking b. $47,511.22 in money market c. Total of $48,809.08

C. Programs Report 1. Next membership meeting is February 8th in Appleton 2. No business meeting as will be held in combination with the Lymphoma Society.

D. Fall Conference Report 1. Next Conference October 7, 2011 2. Holly Spletzer is chair a. She needs additional help on the committee b. Committee meets monthly January to May; breaks for June and July; meets again in August and September c. Meetings are dinner meetings and last about 60-90 minutes d. Best of all, you get to attend the Fall Conference for FREE 1 E. Community outreach Report – Beth Simoens 1. January – Affinity Hospice a. www.stefoundation.affinityhealth.org 2. F. Virtual Community/ News letter – Patti Heisel 1. Reminder – there is a new chat room on the Web Site 2. NEWONS needs Mission and Vision Statement ideas a. Can send them to Elisabeth or Patti Heisel, or can post on the web site 3. The Board will review them and present them to membership 4. Patti would like to put out another Newsletter before the end of January a. Send her any items that you have – for sale, new information, recipes, anything

G. Grants 1. Member grants a. Applications for $1,500 grant to ONS Congress 2011 in Boston due January 30, 2011 a. No applications so far b. Applications and the eligibility requirements are posted on our web site. a. Forward them to Elisabeth c. Applications for IOL due by July 31st. a. This is held in November d. APN grant Spring semester was due December 1st but was extended till January 31st. Fall semester is due by May 1st. No extensions.

2 H. Scholarships Report 1. New program for 2011 a. Five 2 year NEWONS Memberships b. Five $400 awards for ONS Certification

I. Membership Report 1. Current members – numbers unavailable tonight 2. Three new NEWONS members in attendance were introduced

J. Nominations Report 1. Positions up for re-election in December 2011 a. President b. Vice President – currently vacant c. Treasurer d. Secretary e. Programs f. Scholarships/Grants g. Community Outreach h. Chapter excellence

K. Chapter Excellence Award report – Connie Worzala 1. Connie sent in our application – a very nice application 2. Six other chapters sent in applications a. Interesting that there are 235 chapters in the US, and there were only 7 submissions b. Likely partially due to the extensive work involved in the process 3. One of the other chapters received the award 4. Connie is already working on 2011

L. President-Report – Elisabeth Yogerst 1. Vision and Mission statement a. Refer to information under Virtual Community/Newsletter 2. Onc Pro a. Elisabeth asked if we are using this 3. Web site reliability a. Guiding our patient to use the Web is difficult, but important. b. A handout is available that addresses what patients should look for if searching for a reliable source of information on the Web c. This handout will be posted on our Web site. 4. Board positions available a. All members are encouraged to “help NEWONS navigate through the next decade” b. We need NEW members rather than just reshuffling the OLD. c. Don’t let what you can’t do stop you from doing what you can do!
