Dr. Robbie Robinson to Speak at Annual Leadership Reception Hosted by MCOR and the Plano International Festival Tuesday, August 7, 6:00pm – 8:00pm The Center for American and International Law, 5201 Democracy Drive, Plano 75024

[July 23, 2012; Plano, TX] In anticipation of the largest cultural festival in Plano, the Plano Multi-Cultural Outreach Roundtable (MCOR) has partnered with the Plano International Festival to host the sixth annual Leadership Reception on Tuesday August 7, 2012, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at the Center for American and International Law, 5201 Democracy Drive, Plano 75024. MCOR invites corporate leaders, government officials and community leaders to come together to celebrate Plano’s diversity as well as explore how leaders can work together to support community unity in Plano.

Dr. Robbie Robinson is a true pillar of the Plano community. A former 20 year Navy veteran, recipient of the 2011 James H. Boswell award, former White House Fellow, Plano Citizen of the Year, co-founder of the Collin County Business Alliance, Dr. Robinson actively supports and devotes his time to a long list of local charitable, civic and business groups. Dr. Robinson will speak about demographic changes in Plano and the unique challenges and opportunities they present. Other panelists include Lisa Amoroso, Senior Director of Diversity and Inclusion at Frito Lay and André Davidson, Plano City Council member and Executive Director of Leadership Plano. Ms. Davidson is a recent recipient of the Leadership Preceptor’s Award, given to those who exhibit creativity, ethics, and dedication to the concept of strengthening and transforming communities. Plano retired Fire Chief Hugo Esparza will act as moderator. Speakers from MCOR will review the group’s mission, recent successes and vision for the future.

Supporting sponsors include the Center for American and International Law and H-E-B, who for the last six years have supported Plano’s multicultural efforts. The Leadership Reception was founded as a private event to precede and highlight the Plano International Festival. The Reception is co-sponsored by the City of Plano Multicultural Outreach Roundtable (MCOR) whose mission is to partner with Plano City Council and the citizens of Plano to encourage understanding of and participation in the government process and the needs and desires of its diverse citizens.

The Plano International Festival was conceived by MCOR in 2005 to showcase and celebrate the many cultures represented by the people of Plano. It is designed to promote awareness of cultural diversity and facilitate communication between all cultural groups in the community. It also serves to advance Plano’s visibility and standing as an international city.
