General Membership Meeting Minutes Tuesday, February 9, 2010 Thomas’ Ristorante

Call to Order: President Mark Morgan (Moorestown Theater Company) called the meeting to order at 11:40 AM and had members introduce themselves around the room. Luncheon Host: Thomas’ Ristorante. Guest Speaker: Dan Heverly, Post Master of the Moorestown Post Office, presented an overview of the U. S. Postal Service’s various business-oriented offerings (Priority Mail, parcel pickup, stamps-by-fax, bulk mail accounts, etc.) and the current state of the U.S. Postal Service (shrinking offices, automating more mail). Minutes: The minutes from the January General meeting have been posted on our website and copies of the minutes were on each table for review. January minutes were unanimously approved. Financial: Harry Koons reported that we currently have $30,000 total (all accounts), and all bills are paid. Membership: Brian Cooper mentioned that anyone who hasn’t paid their membership yet, can pay at the Moorestown Community House or online. MBA membership is currently at 115; 150 members having not renewed yet. Board members will receive a list of those members who haven’t paid and will call to remind them to renew. Mark wants to get the 2010 Directory to the printer by the end of February so that it is ready for handout at the Easter Egg Hunt. Speed networking among members present, began at 12:30 PM.

Standing Committee Reports Board of Directors: Mark introduced 2010 members and mentioned the board’s new meeting time and alternating venues (Susquehanna Bank and Moorestown Radio Control Hobbies). Mark also invited members to ‘pop’ in to any first-Wednesday Board meetings. Budget: According to Harry, budget is right on target. Bylaws: Nothing to report. Community Affairs: Harry announced that Verizon’s antenna has not yet been approved. Ethics: Nothing to report. Marketing: Amy Barton was introduced as Marketing Chair and reported on her recent efforts. Mark intends to get the 2010 Directory to the printer by the end of February, reminding members that black and white photos of their businesses will be included in the directory in a 1” x 1” format at a cost of $50, and to contact Tom Sheckels for details. The directory will not include advertising this year (possibly next year). Members can still e-mail their company logo or business card to Tom Sheckels for inclusion on the MBA website, for free. Tom said the quest for event sponsors is coming along well. Nominating: Nothing to report. Policies: Holly Sanborn is working on policies regarding e-mail blasts, ad solicitations, mailing lists, and purchase of mailing lists from the MBA for members’ personal use. Scholarship: Dan Posternock said MBA scholarships are given to students oriented towards studying for business degrees. Social: Hala Al-Shawaf reported that all Business After Business event hosts have been lined up for the year, except for July. Sponsorship: Tom said that the poster for the Easter Egg Hunt is nearly finished; including logos (some sponsors to be added). So far, there are just four businesses committed for 2010, prompting a call for additional sponsors. The 2009 event had 10 sponsors.

1 Event Committees Call from Mark to the membership to volunteer time on any committee. Easter Egg Hunt: Joe Horwitz invited members to help out and attend future meetings. ArtWalk: Hala updated everyone on the 2010 ArtWalk season. Moorestown Day: Holly Sanborn reported that applications to participate in the 34th annual event would be going out soon. Booth costs are $40 for non-MBA members and free to MBA members. Autumn in Moorestown: No report at this time. Helen Davies-Miramontes (Prudential Fox & Roach) will continue to Chair the Event with Gina Zegel as Vice Chair volunteer. Halloween Parade: Nothing to report at this time. Brian Cooper continues as Chair, with Michelle Henderson as Vice Chair. Candlelight Night: Nothing to report at this time. Tom Sheckels continues as Chair; Brian Cooper remains Vice Chair.

Old Business: . Nothing to report.

New Business: . Congressman Adler’s free Economic Small Business Summit on February 18th at 6:00 PM. . Mark is looking for someone to serve on Bicycle Steering Committee.

Call for Announcements: . Reminder of Random Acts of Kindness Week (February 15th) from Holly Myers, and an invitation to make and send an online greeting card, via www.kindcardsandgifts.com. . Randy Abidin congratulated Joe Horwitz on his impending marriage. . Mark announced performance dates for MTC’s production of Cinderella, February 17th -21st.
