Members of the public may address the Council on any item within the Council’s jurisdiction. A summary of Council rules concerning communications from the public is available from the ASCOA Secretary at the meetings. Persons addressing items included on the agenda will be heard at the time the item is considered. Persons requesting to address items or subjects which are not on this agenda will be heard under the agenda item “Communications from Members of the Public.” Assistance will be provided to those requiring accommodations for disabilities in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA Move to table item # 1 until the next meeting on April 30 (Rolley/Singh): Passed Unanimously. Move to strike item # 2 (Singh/Rolley): Passed unanimously.

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Move to approve minutes from April 22 (Williams/Rolley): Passed unanimously.

REPORTS

1. Student Trustees’ Reports- Thank you to Senator Singh for being present at the Board of Trustees Meeting. Thank you to the Programs officer Williams and Treasurer Rolley for attending the SSCCC. A Peralta School Council Meeting will be held on Thursday at 3-5pm in room L237. 2. President's Reports- Attended the President Cabinet meeting where discussion was had regarding C and D building reconstruction to take place from December 2014 to March 2015 tentatively. CALWorks offices are being looked at for possible relocation of Faculty and DPSP offices; A.S.C.O.A.is being asked for their consideration on this as the offices are located in the Student Center. Also, new veterans center to be opened on the second floor of the G building where counselors work directly with veterans. Finally, Dr. Jackson is in talks with Verizon Wireless to obtain laptops and tablets for incoming Alameda Promise students. 3. Vice President's Report- Presented the council with the official College of Alameda Voter’s Guide. Explained that the distribution campus-wide is crucial to let students know who their candidates are. Reminded all candidates to campaign on campus to raise awareness and support. 4. Programs Officer Report Attended the SSCCC General Assembly over the weekend where there were workshops regarding Parliamentary Procedure, time-management, and event promotion. 5. Secretary's Report 6. Treasurer's Report Attended the Facilities Committee meeting where reconstruction of the C and D buildings, and renovation of the soccer field restrooms were discussed. Attended the SSCCC: Some ideas to report back include: - Plan events 2 – 3 months in advance. - Plan PAWS for Stress coming to campus, a program which brings trained relaxation therapy animals and people together. - 55% of resolutions passed Region 3 meeting May 18th at San Francisco City College 12p-3p. 7. Senators Report Senator Singh: Attended the Board of Trustees meeting to deliver College of Alameda’s report. Working on the Award Ceremony, contacted the bartended to establish a contract which needs to be approved by the A.S.C.O.A. as soon as possible. Senator Taylor: Performed office hours. Contributed a retreat idea for the planning of the upcoming Summer retreat. 8. Advisor's Report- Met with Carolyn Johnson to discuss her doctorate research efforts toward the best practices for faculty to teach students effectively. Making A.S. efforts and activity efforts on campus count as credits, faculty working closely with student leaders and advisors were ideas. Has been busy at work on planning the upcoming graduation. Finding quotes for Fund 81 purchases previously approved, including the purchase of folding chairs and umbrellas and tables.

COMMUNICATIONS FROM MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC This portion of the agenda provides an opportunity for members of the public to address the Council on matters not included on this agenda. A maximum of 14 minutes (2 minutes per individual maximum) will be provided for speakers under this agenda item. Requests to speak which cannot be honored within the time limit will be scheduled for subsequent meetings in the order received. Under the Brown Act, Council members are not allowed to discuss and/or take formal action at today’s meeting on items brought before them under this item. Council members are only allowed to respond briefly. Written statements can be submitted to the ASCOA Secretary for inclusion in the minutes.

Student Trustee Brian Cervantes asked council to be aware of and publicize the schedules shut- down of the Peralta PASSPORT website, deeming all student information on that site unavailable from 6PM on Wednesday May 15th to 3AM on Monday May 20th.

SPECIAL ORDERS/NEW BUSINESS

1. LUSC Event Funding Request Presenter: LUSC Rep.

The Council shall vote on allocating funds from the club’s own account to pay for upcoming events.

DISSCUSION/OLD BUSINESS

2. Office Supplies Order Presenter: Pablo Flores

The council shall vote on allocating funds to pay for ASCOA office supplies.

3. Graduation Reception Planning Presenter: Pablo Flores

The council shall discuss and possibly vote on planning for the graduation reception.

President Flores asked for volunteers to assist in the planning, set-up, service, and clean-up of cake and light refreshments at the Reception directly following the Graduation on May 24th. The ceremony begins at 2PM, and the Reception immediately follows at 4PM.

COUNCIL MEMBER ANNOUNCEMENTS Student Trustee Brian Cervantes clarified on a previous question by notifying the council that there will be a final testing of the passport updates which conclude tomorrow. Students are asked to volunteer 45-minutes of their time at the District Office by April 30th at 3pm.

President Pablo Flores announced a Special Meeting of the A.S.C.O.A. to be held Tuesday, April 30th at 1PM in the “Pit” area of the ‘F’ Building. Topics to be discussed and voted on will be posted by 1PM today (April 29th).
