The Afro-American Historical & Genealogical Society-Willie Lee Gay-H-Town Chapter in conjunction with Texas Southern University Robert James Terry Library is sponsoring Dr. Rick Kittles, Ph.D., as the guest speaker for our Black History Month Program, February 26, 2005, at Texas Southern University (MLK Humanities Center, Room 104; 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM). Our primary purpose is to introduce the community to current trends in family history and genealogical research. Dr. Kittles was the Co-director of Molecular Genetics at the Human Genome Project at Howard University and currently serves on the faculty at Ohio State University Medical Center. Our 2005 Black History Month Program, Reconstructing Your African Ancestry Using DNA Testing, will focus on new advances in genetic genealogy, understanding ethical issues surrounding DNA testing, and will provide an overview of genetic genealogy.
