SOCCER RULES FOR SAN ANTONIO CHRISTIAN ATHLETIC LEAGUE Revision 8/31/2015 Mission Statement The S.A.C.A.L. primary goal is to bring Christian families together in a Christ-like atmosphere where recreational habits and skills are promoted and developed in young men and women. Christian fellowship, good sportsmanship, and personal dignity are the ultimate objective, to winning or losing. We see our athletic programs as a tremendous opportunity to demonstrate the love of our Savior, Jesus Christ, in action. Rules: A. Kindergarten a. 5v5 format including a goalie. Must have 4 on the field to play. b. Two 15 minute halves and 5 minute half-time. c. Size 3 game ball d. Field Size: 20yds x 30 yds e. Goal Size: 6’ x 12’ f. Free substitution on any dead ball, after verification by the official g. No off-sides B. 1st – 2nd grade a. 7v7 including the goalie. Must have 6 to play b. Two 15 minute halves and 5 minute half-time. c. Size 3 game ball d. Field Size: 35 yds x 50 yds e. Goal Size: 6’ x 12’ f. Free substitution on any dead ball, after verification by the official g. No off-sides C. 3rd – 4th grade a. 9v9 including the goalie. Must have 7 to play b. Two 20 minute halves and 5 minute half-time c. Size 4 game ball d. Field Size: 40yds x 70yds e. Goal Size 6’ x 12’ f. Free substitution on any dead ball, after verification by the official g. Off-sides will be called if the off-sides player is more than 3 steps past the last defender D. 5th – 6th grade a. 9v9 including the goalie. Must have 7 to play b. Two 25 minute halves and 5 minute half-time c. Size 4 game ball d. Field Size: 40yds x 80yds e. Goal Size: 8’ x 24’ f. Substitute only when their team is in possession of the ball, after verification by the official. g. Off-sides is fully enforced  In attempting to clear the ball from the goal, a goalie has 6 seconds to put the ball back in play by throwing or punting. General League Rules  FOR EVERYONE’S SAFETY, PLEASE LEAVE YOUR PETS AT HOME.  All games will begin with a prayer lead by one of the coaches or parents.  Only players enrolled and actively attending school may participate in this sport. (Ex. Students that are being home schooled or members of the congregation, but not enrolled in the school, cannot participate on SACAL teams.)  A player may not move to a team more than one grade level above her/his current grade. Example: a fourth grade child may play with the fifth/sixth grade team, however a third grade child could not move up to play with the sixth grade team.  No player may move down to play below his/her grade level. (Ex. 1st grade player may not move down to play on the 5k team.)  Limit the number of coaches to NO MORE THAN THREE on the sidelines at games. Spectators may not view games from the area between the Fields. Referees have been instructed to clear this area of all fans before play begins.  Please be reminded that spectators are in attendance to cheer on the teams and not to coach them.  Once the game is completed, the two teams will immediately line up on the mid-field line. The two coaches will supervise both teams as they shake hands in a gesture of good sportsmanship. Players will offer only words of fellowship and congratulation. Coaches who desire to speak with their team at the conclusion of the game should wait until players have exchanged congratulations.

VOLLEYBALL HOUSE RULES (Revised 9/4/12) 1. A team may play with five players, however when the service comes to the sixth player, a side out will be awarded to the other team. 2. Players must have numbers on their uniforms but U.I.L. rules for uniforms will not be enforced by the S.A.C.A.L. 3. Rally scoring will be used. Best of 3 sets, with the first 2 sets going to 25 points with a cap of 30. The third set will be up to 15 with no cap. It is strongly encouraged that teams play a third set for extra development if one team wins in two sets. This third game may be played but must end 10 minutes prior to the next match, no matter the score.

4. There will be an 8-minute warm up time between matches and 2 minutes between games.

5. All games will begin with prayer lead by one of the coaches or parents. The prayer will involve the crowd by asking them to join with the teams in prayer.

6. Once the game is completed the two teams will immediately line up on the mid-court line. The two coaches will supervise both teams as they shake hands in a gesture of good sportsmanship. Players will offer only words of fellowship and congratulations. Coaches who desire to speak with their team at the conclusion of the game should wait until players have exchanged congratulations.

7. No player will be allowed to play while there is an uncovered wound or bleeding wound. She can return after all bleeding stops and the wound is covered.

8. Players cannot move cross laterally from another team at schools who have more than one team at a given level.

9. Players at a lower grade level can move up to make the minimum of number players on any team. After that game they may return to play on their original team. If they are used to making more than the minimum on a team, they must remain on the upper level for the remainder of the year.

10. A player may not move to a team more than one grade level above her current grade. Example: a fourth grade child may play with the fifth/sixth grade team, however a third grade child could not move up to play with the fifth/sixth grade team.

11. The two teams playing MUST provide either a score keeper or clock person IN ADDITION TO a line judge over the age of 15. It is preferred that this person is a parent or coach from that school. Former, but not current students may perform either of these tasks. 12. A re-serve will be awarded if a ball from another court comes into the court during play. 13. The league will be split into an Advanced League and a Beginners League. 14. Foot Faults will be allowed the first 2 weeks of the season for both the Advanced and Beginners League. 15. Beginners league will have the following modifications: A. If a server serves overhand 5 consecutive times and her team scores, that team will rotate one server. No point will be lost, and no side out will be given. A1. In an effort to be fair, if a server begins by serving overhand, they cannot switch to underhand on the 5th serve just to keep service. B. The service line will be closer to the net…at the discretion of the official. Players may be asked to serve from the official service line, if they can easily get the ball over the net. C. Volleylite volleyballs will be used. 16. Only students enrolled as full time students of your school are allowed to participate in the league. All others would be in direct violation and will result in the violating school being removed from the league for 1 full year. 17. FOR EVERYONE’S SAFETY, PLEASE LEAVE YOUR PETS AT HOME.
