That hammering drum beat is fairly straight forward, but this part will only be used once. The others will include an extra note.. Apply Vibrato as necessary.
|------| |------| |------| |------| |--3-----3------| |-----3------|
A figure with a rhythmic motif that will be repeated many times.
|------| |------| |------| |------8~~------| |--5--6------8-----| |------7\--|
Drums, again. Includes an extra note - an eighth note (The B.) held over from the prior measure. This beat and the above riff will repeat a few times.
|------| |------| |------| |------| |--2/3------3--| |------3-----| Behind those parts, there is a rising sharp sound whose pitch begins and ends on C. There a plenty of ways to play this (Sweep, slide, etc.), but here’s a simple method:
|------| |--1/13--| |------| |------| |------| |------|
Be sure to pace your slide to fit how it’s played in the song. Tack on distortion and/or an effect to make it sound more menacing.
------
Later, the timpani drums will play as so:
|------|------| |------|------| |------|------| |------|------| |------6-----|------8------| |--3/4-----4--|--4/6------6--|
And the guitars play this:
|------|------| |------|------| |------|------| |------|------| |------6--6-6-----|------8—8-8----| |--4---6------5--|--6--8------7--|
------
After playing the above riff the 2nd time, return to the top of the tab and play the original riff again. Then, a soft chord based section plays.
G# Cm |--4--| |--3--| |--4--| |--4--| |--5--| |--5--| |--6--| |--5--| |------| |------| |------| (2 Measures of Drums.) |------| (4 Measures of Drums, the repeat.)
…huh? Oh! That’s it! Well, in any case let me throw some details out. - There are two version of this song played throughout Mother 3 that I know of. (Haven’t played Mother 3, see. Waitin’ for that translation patch!) - This tab was written listening to the version that dosen’t have that strange, off- beat section, through you can essentially play both based on this tab. You’ll just have to adjust to that abnormal beat. - I’m sure the drums are some kind of timpani, but I know very little about drums in any case. If you lack such instrumentation, use a bass guitar to substitute the notes. - Experiment with the song! Try: Using pinch harmonics and a whammy bar on those low string notes, using an octave pair instead of single notes, using a finger picking pattern on the G# and Cm. There’s plenty of things you alter and experiment with on this piece.
